Zoolander 2 Character Posters Highlight Hansel McDonald & Valentina

Zoolander 2 - Owen Wilson, Ben Stiller and Penelope Cruz

As anticipation continues to build leading up to the theatrical premiere of the new Ben Stiller-directed comedy sequel, Zoolander 2, fans of Derek Zoolander (Stiller) and his reluctant supermodel sidekick Hansel McDonald (Owen Wilson) are likely awaiting whatever shenanigans the two characters get into on and off the runway come time of the film's February 2016 release. The new movie will also see the return of such notable supporting characters as Mugatu (Will Ferrell) and Matilda Jeffries (Christine Taylor), though Stiller will also be joined by a host of new comic and celebrity for his second cinematic take on the fashion industry.

Most recently featured in the first international trailer and poster art for the new studio comedy, Stiller and Wilson will be joined by crime-fighter Valentina (Penélope Cruz) to aid in their attempt to subvert a global assassination plot against the world's most beautiful people. But before Valentina makes her big screen debut, moviegoers have been offered another tantalizing look at a couple of the sequel's really, really good-looking stars.

In a series of exclusive character posters released by Yahoo! Movies, Cruz and Wilson are featured in a pair of glossy one-sheet movie posters. Respectively, Valentina looks sensuous and alluring, while Hansel remains the preeminent ladies' man, though only time will tell whether or not he will be able to seduce his charming new cohort, too.

Towing the line with the previously released Zoolander 2 theatrical trailer, the new posters for Stiller's latest diretorial effort promise a return to the aesthetic form of his original cult comedy hit from 2001, if nothing else. Just how viewers will react to the finished product remains to be seen, though based on appearances alone the sequel should offer those who remember the first film fondly enough with reason to at least buy a ticket to see its successor.

With the fairly ambitious task of surpassing the warmth of feeling felt for the property these past 15 years, Zoolander 2 could be able to skate by capably enough as a nostalgia-driven project, if nothing else. Regardless, Derek Zoolander is sure to become a visual point of reference in mainstream comedy once more when the film finally sees release... for better or for worse.

Zoolander 2 opens in U.S. theaters on February 12th, 2016.
