Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist debuted on NBC earlier this year, and it has become the most heartfelt new show of the season. Fans quickly fell in love with Zoey Clarke and her unexplainable heart songs. But now that the first season is over, the mystery only seems to be deepening.

The finale left viewers with plenty of unresolved storylines: What happened with Zoey's headaches? What is happening with all those heart songs, anyway? Take a look at the 10 biggest unanswered questions from in the first season.

What Were Her MRI Results?

In the very first episode, Zoey complains of having headaches. With her father's serious medical condition, she decides that seeing a doctor would be the best idea. She enters an MRI machine and, voila, the show's synopsis is born.

But the show never circles back to Zoey's results. Was there something wrong with her head? Did the MRI find anything? One can only hope this gets answered. This leads to the next question...

Did She Ever Go Back To The Doctor?

After the earthquake disrupted her test and, possibly, her final results, wouldn't Zoe have needed to return? Viewers don't find out whether the doctor called her back into the hospital.

So what's the deal? Shouldn't any doctor immediately bring a patient back for another MRI after a sudden incident like that? Any real-life doctors who watch the show, please answer this if the show won't.

Is She Still Having Headaches?

Okay, so she didn't get results and didn't go back. But this brings up another question: Did her headaches actually go away? Zoe stops complaining about the pains after the heart songs begin, but the audience never hears whether her headaches actually stopped.

The only other time she seems to experience the same intense discomfort is when she sings out loud. Maybe fans would find out what's going on with her headaches if she went back to the doctor to get those results. Really, it's a vicious cycle of unresolved plot points.

How Do The Heart Songs Work?

Viewers don't know why Zoey has the heart songs, but they also don't know how they work. It does not stay consistent throughout the show: Sometimes they happen mid-conversation, other times they happen while time is frozen.

What are the mechanics and logistics behind the heart songs? Will there ever be an answer? Hilariously, Zoey and Mo try to come up with a game plan for this, reporting on the different circumstances of the songs. But even they don't have a solid answer.

When Is Emily Going To Have The Baby?

Emily has been pregnant the entire season. Every episode, she has an unchanging baby bump that made it seem like she would give birth at any minute. Even in the finale, when she winds up in the hospital and it looks like she would finally go into labor, she didn't.

When exactly will viewers get to meet baby Clarke? It can't keep going on unanswered, especially with such an uncertain future for the show. It would be especially touching to see a new family member after the Clarkes lost such a dear one in the last episode.

Why Was She Singing Heart Songs Out Loud?

In one particularly hysterical episode, Zoey is under a lot of pressure and starts singing her heart songs out loud to the people around her, including Max and Simon — only she doesn't realize this at first.

The show chalked it up to stress, but that doesn't seem like a totally resolved dilemma. Wouldn't it make more sense if Zoey expressed her own heart songs but real-life continued as normal like it does for those around her?

What Happened With Mitch's Friend?

Did anyone else think it was suspicious that, when left home alone with his friend Paul, Mitch just so happened to fall and hurt his back on the stairs? Viewers never see the accident happen, only the phone call later informing Maggie about the injury.

And right before that scene, Paul initiates a strange conversation about life and death with Mitch at the dinner table. It all seemed highly suspect. Could there be a larger mystery brewing? Did Paul drop Mitch on the stairs intentionally?  Fans have yet to find out.

Is Mitch Coming Back?

As fans know, the Clarke family lost Mitch in the season finale. It was a heart-wrenching scene where viewers and Zoey were forced to say goodbye. While Zoey is seeing her dad off, Mitch says, "You'll always hear me. All you'll have to do is listen."

Is it possible that Mitch will return in the form of a heart song? The creator himself seems to allude to this in an interview with Us Magazine when he says that there are opportunities to bring Mitch back.

What's Up With That MRI Technician?

Fans know the one: The technician who conducted her disastrous MRI reading in the premiere. Did anyone notice that the song he plays before the earthquake strikes is REM's "It's the End of the World?" And that the lyrics are about an earthquake? Somehow, it gets even stranger from here.

When Zoey returns to the hospital in the finale, she runs into the same technician, who starts talking about his "extraordinary" MRI machine and how many people it's helped. Emphasis on "extraordinary," like in the title of the show. Then, he starts singing the same song as Zoey did in episode two: "I've Got the Music In Me." Fans need an answer to how this mysterious man is involved, stat.

Will There Be A Second Season?

This is probably the biggest question fans have. While Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist debuted to critical acclaim, it has yet to be renewed for a new season. The cast and crew seem hopeful, but it's never a sure bet. It's the colorful and emotional show the world needs right now.

Loyal viewers deserve an answer as soon as possible because clearly there are a lot of important plot lines to resolve. It's possible the show's future is on hold, but when productions resume, it will be renewed. One can only hope.
