A sequel film to the Nickelodeon series Zoey 101 is currently in production. The series, which originally ran for four seasons from 2005 through 2008, starred Britney Spears' younger sister Jamie Lynn Spears as the title character Zoey Brooks. Zoey 101 follows the titular teen after she enrolls in Pacific Coast Academy, a prestigious boarding school that was previously only open to male students.

Per Deadline, a Zoey 101 sequel film titled Zoey 102 is in production with So Help Me Todd director Nancy Hower and All That writers Monica Sherer & Madeline Whitby. The title will debut on Paramount+, the streaming service behind the iCarly reboot series, the live-action The Fairly OddParents: Fairly Odder, and other resurrected Nickelodeon properties. The film, which is slated for release in late 2023, will see the original characters reunite at a wedding, including Zoey, Quinn Pensky (Erin Sanders), Chase Matthews (Sean Flynn), Logan Reese (Matthew Underwood), Michael Barret (Christopher Massey), Stacey Dillson (Abby Wilde), and Mark Del Figgalo (Jack Salvatore).

What Will The Zoey 101 Movie Be About?

While there are no further details about the plot of the Zoey 101 sequel film so far, one major question remains: Who is getting married? Fans are likely hoping that the wedding will be between Zoey and her longtime love interest Chase, who she eventually got together with during the series finale after her breakup with James, who was played by recent Golden Globe winner Austin Butler. However, the reveal that that pair is getting married would probably be too easy, as the plot of the film will most likely follow Zoey rekindling her romance with Chase after a long separation. Most likely, Zoey will either be marrying a new character who she realizes isn't right for her. or she will be a single thirtysomething attending the wedding of one of their mutual friends. Perhaps Quinn and Logan will end up tying the knot after becoming a surprising couple during Zoey 101.

One intriguing fact about this follow-up to Zoey 101 is the fact that the synopsis doesn't mention any of the characters having kids. Typically, reboot series of classic teen shows like Girl Meets World, Raven's Home, or Netflix's upcoming That '90s Show tend to follow the children of the grown-up characters and allow them to pass the baton to a new generation. That doesn't exactly seem to be the case here. Although the synopsis doesn't preclude any of the characters from having children of their own, it seems that the returning cast will be the primary characters in a manner similar to the iCarly reboot series, with the main focus of the plot being to follow how their lives have gone since their graduation from PCA.

Spears is best known currently for her very public rift from her older sister during the recent controversy around their father's conservatorship over Britney, which has since ended after a protracted legal battle. However, she can also be spotted playing Noreen Fitzgibbons in the Netflix drama Sweet Magnolias, based on the novel of the same name by Sherryl Woods. While that is the most prominent role held by any of the returning Zoey 101 alums, they have all been working on and off in various film and television projects since 2008. Most of them got together in 2020 for what is now their first reunion of two this decade for the music video "Follow Me," a cover of the show's theme song which Spears performed with Chantel Jeffries.
