For their taste in movies of any genre, they lean on to the adventurous elements and the humorous parts. Luckily, for a hostile genre like horror, there are movies that they can relate to and find inspiration from. Here are among those five good horror films (and five others they should avoid).

Love: Halloween (2018)

This Halloween movie that follows up the original 1978 Halloween movie, ignoring the sequels, finds Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) on a final showdown against Michael Myers as he attempts to target more victims during 2018 Halloween.

Slasher films are tricky draws for Sagittarius to see which suits them without squirming over the gore or making innocent settings nightmarish. Luckily, Sagittarius will get to appreciate Strode’s resilience and determination to take down her old foe. It is that compelling.

Hate: Split (2017)

James McAvoy in Split

The film that turns out to be a successor to Unbreakable, Split centers on a deranged man named Kevin Wendell Crumb (James McAvoy), who possesses 23 split personalities and kidnaps three girls in order to manifest the 24th personality – the Beast.

Claustrophobic and unpredictable, Split will surely put one at unease with McAvoy’s believable performances that made the girls truly frightened. For Sagittarius, any movie set on confined spaces, featuring characters with nasty backstories or despicable personalities, is off-putting.

Love: The Cabin in the Woods (2012)

Being comic reliefs and wisecracks, Sagittarius will easily find appeal in a horror films that pokes fun of horror elements and make the funny guys last. So, here is the Drew Goddard 2012 slasher flick The Cabin in the Woods.

This movie follows five college students as they locate a remote lodge, which turns out to be a testing site for horrifying monsters. Both funny and adventures, The Cabin in the Woods subvert any horror clichés by taking an adventurous route.

Hate: Us (2019)

On the other hand, there is the Jordan Peele flick Us, which centers on a group of unhinged doppelgangers who disturb a family on vacation, while the mother of the family (Lupita Nyong’o) attempts to fight back.

Sagittarius viewers can appreciate the audacious vibe of the film from its Santa Cruz Beach setting. But they will be deterred from the slasher elements, the twist, and the presence of the tethered beings. The “home invasion elements” is an immediate red flag.

Love: Army of Darkness (1992)

For Sagittarius hungry for tongue-in-cheek thrills, they can always count on the Evil Dead movies, but particularly Army of Darkness. This third installment of the horror franchise finds Ash Williams (Bruce Campbell) trapped in the Arthurian Middle Ages and determined to return to the present time, while he fights off ancient dead forces.

Sagittarius will easily admire Ash’s comic personality and his suave moves on beating the dead. The time-jumping element helps with the franchise’s adventurous world-building and B-movie fun.

Hate: Saw (2004)

Slasher films tend to a deterrent for Sagittariuses looking for a suitable horror flick. And the Saw franchise offers anything but relatable characters and wisecracks. The first film sees two men (Leigh Whannell and Cary Elwes) chained to a bathroom and given orders by a mysterious figure called Jigsaw to kill each other.

Both claustrophobic and unnerving, Saw is a regiment for horror fans hungry for gore-splatting thrills. For Sagittarius folks, however, it is both queasy and dim to bear.

Love: Train to Busan (2016)

 Train To Busan

South Koreans got their hands on a zombie blockbuster with Train to Busan, which combines Snowpiercer and World War Z in one tense apocalyptic horror film. This thoroughly entertaining zombie film centers on father Seok-woo and his daughter Su-an as they escape from Seoul via train en route to Busan, a zombie-free haven.

Packed with pulsating thrills and subtle commentary, Train to Busan settles on simple zombie film conventions and gives all its best. Yet, Sagittarius viewers will be engaged in the core father-daughter story.

Hate: The Blair Witch Project (1999)

The Blair Witch Project is a landmark on found-footage filmmaking. And it is almost the ideal film for Sagittarius moviegoers for its lush setting, its sense of adventure, and its characters determined to create a grounded documentary about the local Blair Witch urban legend.

However, the found-footage gimmick tends to be claustrophobic. The scares were rather misleading. And the three figures of the documentary – Heather, Michael, and Joshua – tend to act illogically. Sagittarius people would have a hard time carrying on with the illustrious trio.

Love: A Quiet Place (2018)

A Quiet Place came out of nowhere last 2018 and became one of the most celebrated horror films of that year. And it really shows from its world-building, its intense sequences, its performances and its use of sign language and no dialogue.

While they may have a problem with the secluded home concept, this John Krasinski-directed horror fare is sweeping with opulent scenery that the spirit of adventure is relied on the characters, particularly Regan (Millicent Simmonds). But their true takeaway is its family-centered core.

Hate: Midsommar (2019)

ari aster

Ari Aster’s second horror fare Midsommar focuses on a grieving college student named Dani (Florence Pugh), who reluctantly tags along with her college friends on a vacation in Sweden, where they visit a summer festival that had sinister secrets.

This film takes the concept of a vacation-gone-wrong and weaves it into an allegory about grief. However, Sagittarius folks might see this as a reminder to never visit Sweden nor or a denunciation to their adventurous and humorous spirit. They are better off watching Hereditary instead.
