Every sign of the Zodiac has a genre of film they gravitate more towards. However, as with anything, there will be films within that genre that can evoke love and some that result in hate. This is definitely true when blending the fantasy genre with the Gemini sign.

Geminis are very dynamic people who are also very forward-thinking. They never want to look in the past and they always want to venture out into new horizons. The fantasy genre definitely deals with these concepts, but some are assuredly viewed more fondly than others by Geminis. This goes double for the biggest fantasy franchises, too!

Love: The Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers (2002)

The dynamic traits of Geminis are at play in the second film in The Lord of the Rings trilogy. It's not only because of the title, however, which evokes the idea of duos. It's because of the parallel storylines in the epic film.

It is in this film when Frodo and Sam separate from the story and allow for two plots to unfold concurrently. Couple this with a moving Sam monologue at the end about persevering and moving forward and The Two Towers is a perfect Gemini fantasy film.

Hate: Coco (2017)

Miguel and Dante look on in the land of the dead in Coco

Few Pixar movies have as loaded an adventure as Coco does. But just because there's a lot going on in the animated fantasy, that does not mean that Geminis will be drawn to it. In fact, they might be turned off by the movie's slavish devotion to the past.

While some might find the familial connections heartwarming, others might find it cloying and too beholden to tradition. For a Zodiac sign that loves progressing in the world, Coco does not quite fit the mold.

Love: The Little Mermaid (1989)

A different animated movie from the Disney realm would be more aligned with the Gemini values, though. The Little Mermaid, the 1989 hit that began the Disney Renaissance, tackles the valuable themes of letting go and moving on.

Children really do have to be free to lead their own lives. Growing up, a lot of Geminis probably sported a deep connection to Ariel, the mermaid who was not afraid of change.

Hate: Big Fish (2003)

Ewan McGregor in Big Fish

Similar to Coco, the concept of holding onto tradition and rebuilding old relationships with family is prevalent throughout Tim Burton's Big Fish. As such, Geminis might be averse to the film's structure.

For a Zodiac sign that loves to push forward into new frontiers of storytelling, Big Fish would be deplorable. Much of the fantasy film is dedicated to the flashback! The telling of old tales is not an attribute that any Gemini film lover would flock to.

Love: How To Train Your Dragon (2010)

One of the hallmarks of a Gemini is that they love to shake up the status quo. Why stick to the way things have always been done when there are new and exciting adventures beyond the homestead?

That is why How to Train Your Dragon would be a perfect fantasy film for any Gemini. The entire conceit of the movie is that the traditional way of doing things is not the best way. Geminis always love to uncover new identities and new methods for navigating the world. Flying on a dragon would definitely be one of them.

Hate: Mary Poppins Returns (2018)

Geminis would probably roll their eyes just at the title of Mary Poppins Returns. The idea of a character returning, presumably for more adventures of the same ilk that she already embarked on, would definitely be groan-worthy.

After all, where is the progressiveness in that? Much of Mary Poppins Returns is rooted in the past, after all. Many may find it to be a fun celebration of music and nostalgia. Geminis, though, will loathe its very existence.

Love: Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows - Part 1 (2010)

Harry, Ron, and Hermione looking scared in Harry Potter

One of the more underrated films in the Harry Potter franchise, the first part of Deathly Hallows is a perfect fantasy watch for any Gemini. Why? Because it sheds away everything fans were taught to love about the Wizarding world!

Hogwarts? Dumbledore? Lots of Lupin? Not in this movie. This is one of the most grounded fantasy movies ever made. Hogwarts is an afterthought and the coveted trio of the story is thrust into the Muggle world of London. One of the most dynamic films in the franchise, it's perfect for a Gemini.

Hate: Groundhog Day (1993)

Groundhog Day

If there is one thing that a Gemini is sure to hate, it is repetition. So that is why the fantasy film, Groundhog Day, would not be on a Gemini's watch list. After all, it is the granddaddy of all movies about repetition!

Sure, Phil Connors does learn about what it means to be a good person who values life. But by the time that rolls around, the movie has already spun its wheels so much that it has surely lost any Geminis who were watching.

Love: The Princess Bride (1987)

On the surface, The Princess Bride might seem like just any old fantasy story. But dig deeper and one will see that William Goldman's fairy tale is actually quite subversive and whip-smart.

As such, this is a great fantasy movie to show a Gemini. They don't want to be stuck with the same tropes over and over again. The Princess Bride turns these tropes on their head to great effect.

Hate: Hook (1991)

In the same vein of Big Fish and CocoHook turns its attention to the past. Steven Spielberg's divisive fantasy film centers around Peter Pan, who has finally grown up.

However, a Gemini will be the only one to find reverence in the idea of Peter Pan shedding his childhood. The rest of the film is dedicated to rediscovering his youth, his spirit, and his past. The clock is reset in Hook, rather than allowed to march forward. And a Gemini just wouldn't be able to stand for that.
