Lionsgate releases the first Zeros and Ones trailer starring Ethan Hawke as twin brothers on opposing sides of a terrorist plot. The action-thriller hails from writer/director Abel Ferrara, best known for the Christopher Walken-starring neo-noir crime thriller King of New York, the Harvey Keitel-led Bad Lieutenant and the vampire horror film The Addiction. Ferrara's latest film centers on an American soldier who is called to Rome to prevent an imminent terrorist bombing and search for his imprisoned rebel twin brother who holds knowledge to try and prevent the attack on the Vatican.

Hawke leads the cast of Zeros and Ones as the twin brothers alongside Cristina Chiriac, Phil Neilson, Valerio Mastandrea, Dounia Sichov, Korlan Madi, Mahmut Sifa Erkaya and Anna Ferrara. Development on the film was first announced in November 2020 when Hawke, Chiriac and Nelson signed on for the cast while production subsequently began the same month. After having made its world premiere at the Locarno Film Festival, Zeros and Ones is gearing up for its wide release a year after production got underway and Lionsgate is looking to build anticipation for the action-thriller.

With just a month until the film's arrival, Lionsgate has unveiled the first trailer for Zeroes and Ones. The video introduces Hawke's dual characters on opposite sides of the law in a terrorist plot involving the Vatican. Check out the thrilling new trailer below:

The first trailer for Zeros and Ones certainly looks like a compelling return to the independent neo-noir style Ferrara became celebrated for early in his career, with the close camerawork and dark lighting establishing an ominous and claustrophobic nature to the film. The trailer for the film also seems to indicate the incorporation of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic into its story, a decision likely stemming from production occurring in Italy at a time when the government were putting tighter restrictions on safety protocols. Additionally, the video promises an exciting turn from Hawke in a dual performance, an effort audiences have yet to see the Oscar nominee tackle in his filmography.

The impending arrival of Zeros and Ones also comes at an interesting time for fans of the Sinister actor. Blumhouse recently unveiled first trailer for his return to the horror genre and reunion with Scott Derrickson, The Black Phone, which has already received largely positive reviews from its premiere at Fantastic Fest, and the star is set to be seen in Marvel's Moon Knight series at Disney+, Rian Johnson's Knives Out 2 and Robert Eggers' The Northman all in 2022. In the meantime, audiences can look forward to Hawke's dual performance in Zeros and Ones when the film hits theaters and digital platforms on November 19.
