Here's everything currently known about Zero season 2, including its potential renewal, release date, and story details. Netflix's Zero is about second-generation Italian immigrants in Milan, which thematically parallels the real-life experiences of creator Antonio Dikele Distefano. Zero season 1 follows a teenager with invisibility powers while teasing a mysterious origin story in Senegal.

Zero season 1 focuses mostly on a group of friends in "the barrio" section of Milan. When Omar (Giuseppe Dave Seke) moves to the Northern Italian city, his drawings catch the attention of Shariff (Haroun Fall), who subsequently introduces "Zero" to his three best friends: Sara (Daniela Scattolin), Momo (Dylan Magon), and Inno (Madior Fall). When the crew discovers that a real estate developer has been hiring criminals to vandalize their neighborhood - a convenient way to lower property prices - Omar uses his invisibility powers to fight back in the Netflix show, and ultimately learns that his girlfriend, Anna (Beatrice Grannò), is the daughter of public enemy #1, Bruno Ricci (Giordano De Plano).

The Zero season 1 finale resolves much of the primary conflict, but also sets up major plot points for upcoming episodes. Omar learns that Anna is technically the owner of Sirenetta Real Estate, which means that she could eventually be jailed because of Zero's secret investigation. However, the biggest problem emerges when a shadowy figure known as The Virgin (Roberta Mattei) has Anna kidnapped, and then sets her eyes on Awa. The series heavily implies that Omar and his sister are the focal figures in an underworld prophecy, but only provides audiences with cryptic information.

Zero Season 2 Renewal

Zero Season 1 on Netflix

Zero season 2 hasn't been greenlit. The first eight episodes released on Netflix in April 2021, so the streaming service will likely assess viewing numbers throughout the spring. Expect Netflix to order Zero season 2 by July or August, if not before.

Zero Season 2 Cast

Giuseppe Dave Seke Omar in Zero Season 1 on Netflix

All of the main cast members will likely return for Zero season 2. Seke will continue to star as the title character, though it seems like Diop will have a much larger role in new episodes, along with Mattei as The Virgin. Omar's core group of friends will presumably be part off the narrative, however the main conflict could potentially involve the title's character origin story in Senegal.

Zero Season 2 Story

Roberta Mattei as The Virgin in Zero on Netflix

Zero season 1 ends with Omar using his invisibility powers to save Anna from kidnappers, only to then realize that he can't return to his normal self. So, The Virgin does two things to get closer to Zero and his sister. First, she temporarily cures Awa of her blindness and then takes Omar to a bizarre ceremony, where he not only spots his father but also his late mother. The first eight episodes include various shots of paintings that seemingly depict Omar and Awa, but the significance of the artwork remains unclear. What's known thus far, however, is that The Virgin has both invisibility powers and privileged information about Omar and Awa's family. Zero season 2 will seemingly reveal that either the death of Omar's mother was faked or that she lives in some type of different realm, which will benefit the supernatural premise.

Zero Season 2 Release Date Info

Virginia Diop as Awa in Zero Season 1 on Netflix

If Netflix follows their usual routine, then Zero season 2 could be greenlit by summer 2021 and production could take place in the subsequent months. The show's episodes are each less than 30 minutes long, so the filming process may take only a matter of weeks, depending on the scope of the second installment narrative. Therefore, Zero season 2 could release by April 2022.
