Unlocking the full surface and sky maps in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom requires you to open 15 Skyview Towers across the land portion of the game - here's how to access the Gerudo Canyon Tower.

The Gerudo Canyon Tower is located at coordinates -2438, -2182, 1370, southwest of Hyrule Field Skyview Tower, and southeast of Gerudo Highlands Skyview Tower. Make sure to prepare for the extremely hot climate here, as the warm weather means Link will take damage the longer he stays in the area.

This is the hardest part of unlocking the Tower, especially if you're low on heart containers or don't have a very full inventory of ingredients. Before attempting to enter the region, make sure to stock up on heat-busting food if possible, or ensure you have more than three heart containers.

How To Survive Hot Areas In Tears Of The Kingdom

Link takes damage in the desert of Tears of the Kingdom due to heat.

To survive hotter areas in TOTK, look for ingredients with Heat Resistance in their description before reaching the desert, such as Chillshrooms. You should have some Heat Resistant foods in your inventory by now already, but if not, head to a cold region like Hebra's snowy mountains and look at the base of pine trees for Chillshrooms or other wintery ingredients.

Cook Chillshrooms with cold bugs - like Cold Darner - to create Chilly Elixir, or combine with any other food ingredients in your inventory and consume to help Link survive the heat. If you're short on cold items, just make sure to keep Link's heart containers filled during this puzzle to prevent death.

How To Enter Gerudo Canyon Tower

Depending how you traveled to Gerudo Canyon Tower, you should cross paths with Sawson, an NPC who can't get the elevator at the base of the tower moving. Climb up to the Tower and you should see a varied selection of building materials, including a handful of metal blocks, just to the side of it.

The easiest way to get into the Tower is to use Link's Ultrahand ability to pick up the metal blocks and use them as a counterweight for Sawson's elevator. As with most Tears of the Kingdom puzzles, how you build a counterweight is up to you, but attaching the metal blocks to each other and then attaching this to the counterweight is a fast and easy fix.

The metal crates also contain items including Roasted Bass, so make sure to break them open after completing Gerudo Canyon Tower.

Add enough building materials to the counterweight with Ultrahand and Sawson should rise up the elevator platform. He'll then open the door to the Gerudo Canyon Tower, allowing you to access the terminal and unlock the Gerudo Desert area of the map.

This Tower serves as a good reminder to keep stock of ingredients and elixirs - and make sure to increase your heart containers when possible - you never know when you might need them in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
