Hylian Rice is a highly valuable food ingredient in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom that serves as the base ingredient for many delicious recipes including curry rice, risotto and rice balls. Cooking is a big part of Tears of the Kingdom, and players can cook meals that provide elemental resistance and restore Link’s health and stamina. Quality ingredients are key to good cooking, and Hylian Rice is rather difficult to find.

Some ingredients such as apples and mushrooms are incredibly commonplace and can be found just about anywhere. However, Tears of the Kingdom gives players two broad options for getting Hylian Rice: from NPC vendors at settlements all across Hyrule, and at specific locations out in the wild. Players might also want Hylian Rice for Tears of the Kingdom’s Gourmets Gone Missing quest, which requires players to cook with the ingredient.

How To Buy Hylian Rice In The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom

Hylian Rice can be bought from certain General Stores at settlements all over Hyrule. Players who’ve made the journey to Zora’s Domain, Korok Forest, Gerudo Town and Hateno Village in Tears of the Kingdom will find the General Stores there stock Hylian Rice.

Link can also purchase the ingredient from the store in Lookout Landing, the very first settlement players visit in Tears of the Kingdom. However, Hylian Rice won’t be sold at Lookout Landing until players have progressed further into the story and completed a major dungeon, such as the Wind, Water, or Fire Temples.

Regardless of location, Hylian Rice sells for 12 Rupees each. This isn’t cheap, but it’s the most reliable way for players to obtain this particular ingredient. A good approach players can take is to harvest Hylian Rice out in the wild while also buying some from General Stores to ensure Link is always well-stocked with cooking ingredients.

Where To Harvest Hylian Rice In The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom

The Legend Of Zelda Tears Of The Kingdom Link Harvesting Hylian Rice Near Rabella Wetlands Skyview Tower

According to the official in-game description, Hylian Rice is grown in regions with lots of water. This is a bit misleading, as it doesn’t appear to spawn near all bodies of water and is notably absent from the Lanayru Wetlands for example. However, there are a few locations where players can reliably harvest some Hylian Rice.

The easiest location to reach is Tears of the Kingdom’s Rabella Wetlands Skyview Tower, in the southeastern part of the map at coordinates 2419, -2762, 0222. This Skyview Tower is surrounded by shallow ponds filled with grass, which players can cut with a sword to harvest the Rice. The spawn rate for Hylian Rice appears to be quite low, but it’s still possible for players to harvest a good amount here.

Nearby locations such as Uten Marsh, Keya Pond, and Koto Pond are also great locations for harvesting Hylian Rice. However, players searching for the most important ingredient in their risotto and curry rice should try cutting grass in any body of water they come across. Hylian Rice is oddly rare, but it’s well worth having for cooking some of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom’s best dishes.
