The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is chock-full of new and fun mechanics, but the best Zonai devices ultimately take the cake. These contraptions, created by the ancient Hyrulean tribe of the same name, can be utilized in a number of exciting ways in the latest Zelda title. From Fusing them to weapons, incorporating them into Ultrahand builds, or simply using them on their own, the best Zonai devices in Tears of the Kingdom let players get more creative (and wacky) than ever before.

To get Zonai devices in TOTK, Link will need to visit a Device Dispenser. These gacha machines are scattered all throughout Hyrule, but since each Dispenser only carries a limited stock of items, players will need to choose their location carefully. After obtaining a Zonai device, Link will then need to power it using a Zonai Energy Cell, which itself will require Zonai Charge. Indeed, the process of obtaining and using Zonai devices might seem tedious on paper, but it's well worth the extra effort in-game, as they can be used to create some of the most useful, funniest, and deadliest Ultrahand creations in Tears of the Kingdom.

15 Fan

Link atop a flying platform among the clouds in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

The Fan is a basic, yet highly versatile Zonai device in TOTK. The gust of wind it exudes can provide momentum to just about anything, whether that be a ground-level vehicle, a flying aircraft, or even just Link himself. The possibilities are endless with the Fan, and it's a Zonai device that most players will find themselves making plenty use of during their adventures.

14 Shock Emitter

Link using a Shock Emitter Zonai device in Tears of the Kingdom against a frog-like enemy, who is being electrocuted.

The Shock Emitter is the weakest of offensive contraptions at Link's disposal, but it's still one of the best Zonai devices in Tears of the Kingdom. As showcased by Arekkz Gaming on YouTube, the Shock Emitter is exactly what it sounds like - a device that electrocutes nearby enemies. It's highly effective, but only in extremely close range, which makes it more situational than its other weaponized device counterparts.

13 Time Bomb

Link standing in front of four Time Bombs in Tears of the Kingdom, one of which is about to detonate.

The Time Bomb is a simple, but effective device that players will always benefit from having on hand. Since it's a bomb with a short fuse and a large blast, it's usually rather counterproductive when used in Ultrahand builds. However, it can also be Fused to weapons or shields (the latter of which is surprisingly helpful, giving Link a significant vertical boost while shield surfing in Tears of the Kingdom).

Ultimately though, Time Bombs are most useful on their lonesome. They can easily break through tough barriers, or they can take out groups of low-health enemies with their area-of-effect blast.

12 Stabilizer

Link using a Stabilizer Zonai device in Tears of the Kingdom in a grassy field.

Conversely, the Stabilizer is a must-have when it comes to using Ultrahand, as it can single-handedly revive an unsuccessful creation. The device is designed to always remain upright, so attaching it to a build will ensure that even the wobbliest of designs remain stable and balanced. Stabilizers allow Link to make use of some otherwise questionable experiments, which cements them as some of the best Zonai devices in TOTK.

11 Portable Pot

Link standing in front of a Portable Pot as it simmers in Tears of the Kingdom.

The Portable Pot, which lets the protagonist cook a single meal anywhere on the map, is a humble quality-of-life item that can save players plenty of valuable time. Instead of having to search for a dedicated cooking pot and start a fire, the device allows Link to simply prepare food on the go. Especially when cooking the best recipes in Tears of the Kingdom, the Portable Pot makes up for what it lacks in flashiness with sheer convenience.

10 Big Battery

Link using Ultrahand to pick up a Big Battery attached to a Fan in Tears of the Kingdom.

Batteries are inherently some of the most useful Zonai devices in Tears of the Kingdom, as they're able to keep contraptions powered for extended lengths of time. The Big Battery contains several times the power of a single Battery, which naturally makes it the better, more effective option.

9 Light

Link in a dark area of the Depths, using a Zonai Light to see behind him in Tears of the Kingdom.

Exploring the Depths is one of the most rewarding parts of TOTK, but it can be difficult trying to traverse through the pitch-black underground caverns without the use of a Zonai Light. As its name would suggest, the item's purpose is to provide a beam of bright light, which improves Link's vision in dark areas. Indeed, it is possible to illuminate the Depths with Lightroots and Brightbloom Seeds - but the Light is still an invaluable addition to any player's inventory, as it's a solid back-up plan if nothing else.

8 Flame Emitter

Link using a Flame Emitter attached to a shield against a group of enemies in Tears of the Kingdom.

The Flame Emitter is another one of the best Zonai devices in TOTK, thanks to its high damage output and high versatility. Activating the item will cause flames to spurt out of the stone dragon's mouth, and from there, it's up to players to decide how to take advantage of the highly lethal phenomenon. For example, the Flame Emitter can be used to create one of the most useful Fuse combinations in Tears of the Kingdom when attached to a shield, but it can also be used to wreak havoc when incorporated into an Ultrahand build.

7 Rocket

Link standing atop a Wing Glider with four Rockets attached to it, flying through the air in Tears of the Kingdom.

Similarly, the Rocket - which provides a brief, yet powerful linear boost - is useful in more ways than it is not. It's an absolute essential when building flying vehicles with the Ultrahand ability, but it can be utilized in a more dubious, weaponized fashion, too. Rockets are whatever players make of them; as long as they're careful not to inadvertently partake in Tears of the Kingdom's funniest deaths, Link will be traversing Hyrule in style before long.

6 Cart

Link standing on top of a Cart with an attached Fan in Tears of the Kingdom.

Carts are an unassuming Zonai device, but they should not be overlooked, as they're the foundation of many amazing Ultrahand creations in TOTK. If players are unsure of how to begin piecing together their newest invention, the simple, four-wheeled rolling platform is always a great place to start. The Cart can be used for just about anything, such as a basic wagon, a complex vehicle, or even a makeshift skateboard when Fused to a shield.

5 Steering Stick

Link standing on top of a Fan-powered machine, steering it using the Steering Stick in Tears of the Kingdom.

The Steering Stick is another one of the best Zonai devices in Tears of the Kingdom, as it opens up an entire new realm of possibilities within the Ultrahand ability. When attached to a vehicle, the stick allows Link to manipulate his movement and trajectory, making the drive or flight far more practical. Instead of feeling like a passenger, players can finally assume the role of the pilot with the Steering Stick in hand.

4 Cannon

Link fighting a Stone Talus in a cave with a Zonai-style weapon in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

The Cannon is a powerful offensive tool that will help the protagonist defeat any adversary in his path. It blasts out highly volatile, Zonai energy-charged projectiles at high speeds, which makes it an ideal weapon for clearing out pesky enemies in hard-to-reach positions, or simply finishing off low-health targets.

3 Beam Emitter

Link holding up a Beam Emitter with the Ultrahand ability and using it to finish off an enemy in the distance of Tears of the Kingdom.

However, when it comes to damage-dealing capabilities, the Beam Emitter is the best Zonai device in TOTK. The long-ranged beam on the contraption does everything that the Cannon does, but better, as it doesn't require aiming a projectile, and it's able to flash-fry enemies cleanly and efficiently. If players are struggling with defeating the hardest bosses in Tears of the Kingdom, the Beam Emitter can provide a surefire (and satisfying) solution to the problem.

2 Homing Cart

Link standing in front of a Homing Cart in Tears of the Kingdom, which is accessorized with Flame Emitters.

The Beam Emitter is a menace on its own, but the Homing Cart can take such offensive items and bring them to the next level. The ancient device is imbued with heat-seeking powers, meaning that it's able to automatically locate and approach enemies without Link having to direct it himself. Although players already have access to five companions in Tears of the Kingdom, the Homing Cart essentially offers itself as a sixth, being an intelligent robotic ally that can take out entire groups of enemies on its own, or even save Link's life in a pinch.

1 Construct Head

Link standing behind a Homing Cart with an attached Construct Head in Tears of the Kingdom.

However, the best Zonai device in TOTK is the Construct Head. When combined with the Homing Cart, it creates a machine that not only seeks out enemies, but is able to actually aim at them. Pairing it with long-ranged and high-damage items like the Beam Emitter or the Cannon is a recipe for unbridled, automated chaos, which makes the Construct Head the best Zonai device in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
