One industrious Legend of Zelda fan has managed to recreate the entire Light World from A Link to the Past as a Dungeons & Dragons map. The third installment of the Zelda franchise will celebrate its 30-year anniversary during November of this year.

After the side scrolling adventure that was Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, A Link to the Past came onto the scene, returning to the original title's overhead perspective roots. It did not, however, ignore everything from its immediate predecessor, and combined many of the gameplay elements that worked from the first two entries while also introducing a few new ones. The most prominent of these features was the first appearance of parallel worlds, something that the Zelda series would use in many subsequent titles going forward. In A Link to the Past, these parallel worlds are referred to as the Light World and the Dark World, with the former being ordinary Hyrule and the latter being a corrupted creation of the game's antagonist, Ganon.

Reddit user InspiraSean86, who has a passion for making D&D maps, has has gotten their latest inspiration from the parallel worlds in A Link to the Past. The map maker's newest creation is of the Light World in incredible 4K detail. This impressive feat also demonstrates the fact that the original game map does not line up so well in a few places, most significantly Death Mountain. InspiraSean86 did say that they cleaned up some of those inconsistencies, but left the iconic Zelda mountain as it is normally depicted. The map maker also promised that a similar Dark World map will be coming soon.

This is not the first time an old video game map was reassembled into one full image, but that does not take away from how impressive the feat is, especially when not everything lines up so well. Thanks to the size of the image and its 4K detail, D&D players will be able to use it quite effectively in both online and in-person campaigns. The Dark World map will be a perfect companion setting once it is completed.

It is inspiring to see fans dedicating themselves to their passions in healthy ways. Not only is InspiraSean86's work from A Link to the Past impressive, but it will be useful to so many other people. There may soon be a surge of Dungeons & Dragons campaigns set in a land that looks strangely like The Legend of Zelda's Hyrule.
