The banana hungry Yiga Clan from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will truly steal anything, including the Master Sword itself. Breath of the Wild continues to be a source of enjoyment and discovery for Nintendo fans, despite releasing over four years ago. From finding new ways to destroy rocky walls to using barrels to traverse Breath of the Wild’s extensive map, players are keeping the gameplay fresh in a myriad of unexpected ways.

A lot of Breath of the Wild’s appeal lies in its flexibility. While some may wish to spend their time unearthing all of the secrets that are scattered about the Kingdom of Hyrule, others may instead choose to rush as fast as they can from the Great Plateau to Hyrule Castle in order to do immediate battle with Calamity Ganon. There are simply no hard or fast rules in Breath of the Wild. However, should players wish to follow the narrative directions that are available in the game, they will come across the Yiga Clan’s hideout in the Gerudo Wasteland at some point during their playthrough.

The Yiga Clan are first introduced in Breath of the Wild as assassins disguised as Hylian travelers. However, as players progress into the desert of the Gerudo, they will learn more about this mysterious group. In order to activate the Divine Beast Vah Naboris, Link must retrieve the Thunder Helm from the thieving Yiga by infiltrating their hideout. Here, Link will discover just how much the Yiga love their precious gems, as each corner of their refuge is festooned with opals, sapphires, and rubies (not to mention countless bunches of mighty bananas). However, in a video shared by ThornyFox, it is revealed that the Yiga Clan will even goes as far as to steal the Master Sword from its plinth in Korok Forest, if given the opportunity to do so. Admittedly it does take some creative gameplay to achieve this amusing theft, with the Yiga swordsman in question having to be lured across Hyrule with tokens and the occasional arrow to the shoulder.

The Yiga Clan also featured heavily in the Legend of Zelda crossover, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. Here, they are once more portrayed as adversaries of Link and Princess Zelda’s, before finally making a truce with the heroes toward the game’s end. However, despite these events not lining up with the canonical conclusion of Breath of the Wild, the Yiga Clan in Age of Calamity still maintained their love for theft, priceless gems, and potassium rich fruit.

But, despite now having two games to show off their combat skills in, it is currently unclear if the Yiga clan will show up again in Breath of the Wild’s upcoming sequel. Bokoblins, Stone Taluses and Moblins have all been seen in the recent gameplay trailer for BOTW2, as well as several new enemies, but there has been no sign (yet) of these desert warriors. If the Yiga do show up again though, Link had better keep an extra close eye on his equipment, now that it has been revealed that these kleptomaniac ninjas really will pinch just about anything when given the chance.
