One The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild player has successfully beaten one of the game’s fearsome Lynel enemies, despite Link being naked and only using a simple stick for a weapon at the time. Breath of the Wild has a vast catalogue of enemies, with foes such as bokoblins and octoroks returning from previous titles. However, the Lynel is widely considered to be one of Breath of the Wild’s hardiest combatants, often overwhelming players if they are not equipped properly for battle.

On its release, Breath of the Wild revolutionized the linear Zelda formula of the past and in its place offered players a version of Hyrule that could be explored at will. Nowhere was off limits, and players could venture into the arid Gerudo desert or the fiery depths of Death Mountain at any time during their gameplay. This flexibility meant that, upon successfully completing the game’s tutorial in the Great Plateau section, players could unravel Breath of the Wild’s mysteries in their own time, and often in some amusingly unique ways.

This gameplay freedom is something that Breath of the Wild player Technotsorry has embraced. Sharing a video to Reddit, the content creator showed off their incredible battle prowess by swiftly slaying one of Breath of the Wild’s Lynels, even though in the video, Link is as good as naked and armed with only a tree branch. Thankfully, Technotsorry had managed to upgrade their Sheikah Slate pre-battle and was therefore able to use the Stasis rune to freeze the advancing Lynel periodically between strikes. This technique, combined with some well-timed Flurry Rushes and an Attack Up boost, soon saw Technotsorry coming out as the victor of this epic battle for the ages, even against the odds. However, this victory came not a moment too soon, as Technotsorry’s tree branch was badly damaged during the battle, and on the cusp of degrading beyond use.

While videos such as Technotsorry’s are great fun to watch, fans are currently most eager to hear more about Breath of the Wild’s upcoming sequel. There has been extraordinarily little officially revealed about the fan dubbed Breath of the Wild 2, although there have been many theories bounced around the internet about what it may include. These have encapsulated everything from which incarnation of Ganon is lying beneath Hyrule Castle, to the possible inclusion of a spiritual world.

The most recent gameplay trailer for Breath of the Wild 2 led to many comparisons with The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. Skyward Sword originally released as part of Nintendo’s 25th anniversary celebrations of the Zelda series in 2011, but it was rereleased for the Nintendo Switch last year. Many have since wondered if this rerelease was actually a cunning move by Nintendo, with the company using Skyward Sword to refresh fans’ memories of the world above Hyrule, and the mechanics of flight in a Legend of Zelda game. With Breath of the Wild’s sequel still slated to release at some point during 2022, no doubt more will be revealed by Nintendo soon. Until that time, however, taking down Lynels in the buff much like Technotsorry managed to may well be an amusing way for Legend of Zelda fans to pass the time while they patiently wait for more news on Breath of the Wild 2.
