It turns out Lynels in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild don't need Sheikah stealth clothing to sneak up on Link. A member of the game's subreddit learned this through personal experience when a Golden Lynel charged from out of nowhere and clubbed Link on the head, triggering an instant game over.

Breath of the Wild received critical praise for how it executed an open-world, sandbox Hyrule, redefining exploration for the future of the Zelda series. Part of the freedom that makes BotW special comes with the assortment of gameplay features throughout Hyrule: shrines filled with treasure and short puzzles, Korok seeds to upgrade the player's inventory, and collectible items that feed into the game's robust crafting system. However, the BotW subreddit proves how fans of the game are also finding more nuanced, unique discoveries four years after the game's release.

In this video posted by Redditor Bl4ckm4rs, Link rides his Master Cycle Zero to the outskirts of the Snowfield Stable. Ditching their motorcycle and approaching a nearby campfire, the camera pans behind Link to find the Lynel galloping toward him at mach speed. Link stands with his back turned before the Lynel closes the distance and hits him on the head with his club, crushing his skull and his hopes of finding Princess Zelda.

Players widely recognize Lynels as the strongest over-world enemy in the game, and gold variants are the strongest of all Lynel kin. That has not stopped fans from discovering funny interactions involving these menacing, centaur-like behemoths, including trapping a Lynel in a jail of ice. Of course, they aren't usually running that fast but Lynels are among the most ferocious enemies in the game. While Bl4ckm4rs may have thought themselves to be safe at the stables it seems this particular Lynel was on the hunt.

Renewed interest in the widely acclaimed Zelda game seems only fitting following the E3 trailer for the game's sequel, the first gameplay footage shown to the public since Breath of the Wild 2's dark reveal trailer in 2019. Even without the newest trailer, the success of the subreddit proves how popular the original The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild remains four years later. In anticipation of the sequel, small discoveries like those posted by Bl4ckm4rs and this hidden detail regarding the Sheikah Slate can provide fans with a fun way to wet their Zelda appetites.
