Losing a particularly bonded horse in Breath of the Wild can be tough, but there's a solution that doesn't involve the glue factory: visiting the Horse God Malanya. Horses have long been integral to The Legend of Zelda, and are particularly helpful in exploring Breath of the Wild. Hyrule is a vast, sparse landscape following the Second Great Calamity, and taming BOTW's wild horses (or riding other mounts) helps Link get to his destinations in a timely manner. BOTW's Hyrule is a dangerous place, especially for defenseless horses, and accidents tend to happen, sometimes resulting in the death of a beloved equine compatriot, but that's where Malanya comes in.
Malanya first appears to be another Great Fairy, trapped inside of a giant flower bulb. The Horse God can be found at the aptly named Malanya Spring, near the also very topical Lake of the Horse God, located southeast of Zelda's most popular water feature, Lake Hylia. There is no quest directly involving the Horse God (only a DLC quest that leads to a chest near their Spring), but a person named Perosa at the Highland Stable nearby will clue Link in on Malanya's existence. Getting to Malanya Spring is not difficult, but it is off the beaten path, so players will have to actively seek it out.
If players have already been to the Highland Stable, there's a good chance that the nearby Ka'o Makagh shrine is the closest fast travel point to the Horse God. If not, the Lake Tower just south of Lake Hylia is a good starting point. Heading east from Lake Tower, players will come across a road leads into Faron Woods before branching south toward the Highland Stable. Continue following this road as it bends to the west around Haran Lake, then take another branching path that leads south again. This path will eventually lead to the Horse God Bridge (which spans Lake of the Horse God), and directly into Malanya Spring.
How To Utilize The Horse God's Powers In BOTW
Like the other Great Fairies of Breath of the Wild's Hyrule, Malanya requires a lump sum in advance in order to access their magic. The motivational total for the Horse God to escape the giant bulb is 1,000 Rupees - Zelda's classic currency. After forking over the cash, Malanya will grant players one horse revival. Any subsequent acts of divine intolerance for the laws of nature carry the price of one Endura Carrot. Conveniently for Link - and bad for Malanya's business - Endura Carrots can be found in the direct vicinity of the Horse God's Spring.
Endura Carrots also grow near other Great Fairy Fountains, as well as other areas around the Faron Grasslands and Hyrule Ridge. Malanya the Horse God is a bit out of the way, and the initial fee of 1,000 Rupees can be a bit steep, but its a small price to pay for unlocking the relatively cheap method of horse revivification. Some horses are bigger and better than others, and losing them to a gang of Bokoblins can be tragic, so it's awfully nice of Breath of the Wild to provide a means to bring horses back from the dead.
