A stunning new glitch in Zelda: Breath Of The Wild allows for first-person gameplay. Nintendo’s critically acclaimed open-world game features gameplay unlike any other previous installments in the Zelda franchise. Since its release in 2017, the game has won numerous awards, with particular praise for the game’s open-world design. In Skyrim-esc fashion, Zelda: Breath Of The Wild allows Link to traverse Hyrule with almost no limits. One of the major differences between Bethesda’s smash hit and Nintendo’s first attempt at an open-world Zelda game is the camera, and the fact that players can only control Link from a third-person perspective. At least, until now.

Zelda: Breath Of The Wild has had plenty of mods that have changed the game in strange and new ways. Some mods have combined two of Nintendo’s most beloved franchises into one, adding an entire racetrack from Mario Kart Wii into the game. Another recent mod transports Link into a Super Mario 64 themed level. Modders have had a blast with Zelda: Breath Of The Wild, incorporating an endless supply of new content. One of the more interesting mods so far was a camera mod that allows players to view Hyrule like never before. The mod adds a freecam that lets players view Hyrule from brand new angles. Still, this latest revelation in Zelda: Breath Of The Wild may take the cake.

As reported by Nintendo Life, players have found a way to play Zelda: Breath Of The Wild in first-person. The glitch transforms the player’s view from third-person to first-person in true Skyrim fashion. The best part: there are no mods required. The video by Twitter user Axk_000 shows how simple it is to activate the glitch and change the camera angle.

As shown in the video, to activate the glitch, the player has to pull out the in-game camera while holding an item and then cancel it. It seems as easy as pie  to change the camera angle and completely transform the way players can view Hyrule. The glitch finally allows players to see through Link’s perspective. While it’s not necessary to go into first-person to enjoy the game, it’s definitely nice to have the option.

Games like Skyrim have always given players the ability to switch between the two perspectives, but Zelda: Breath Of The Wild developers purposely left it out. There is no telling how quickly Nintendo will patch the glitch, or whether it even will. There are plenty of other glitches that have a greater impact on gameplay, and a simple perspective shift won't do much to ruin the game. Whether it is patched soon or not, it’s still a worthwhile mechanic to try out before it's gone.

There are plenty of debates about whether third-person or first-person is the way to go when playing games. Some debates, though, are more impactful than others. Many Resident Evil 8 players have asked this question; "is it better to fight zombies in first or third-person?" So, whether one is a third-person or first-person gamer, the latest Zelda: Breath Of The Wild glitch is sure to attract attention.
