A new mod for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild gives players an army of blupees to join them on their quest to rid Hyrule from Calamity Ganon’s ire. While fans of The Legend of Zelda series wait patiently for the Breath of the Wild sequel to come, mods have been offering a welcome distraction for those still looking to get their Hylian fill.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has become one of the most celebrated games in recent times. Its vast open-world map has offered players hours of entertainment, even without actually following the main story’s quest. The Kingdom of Hyrule holds many secrets and treasures, as well as being home to several magical beings. One such being is the blupee – a mysterious creature that resembles a blue rabbit, and that will disappear in a flash of light if Link gets too close. Some Hylians within Breath of the Wild even theorize that it is blupees that create all of the rupees in the Kingdom.

Now these most elusive of Breath of the Wild creatures have been given their chance to truly shine, thanks to a new mod by Salty Salty. Displayed by Waikuteru on their YouTube channel, the mod creates a new treasure chest on the side of Satori Mountain, where Lord of the Mountain can occasionally be found. On opening the chest, players are gifted with the Mysterious Charm. Once in possession of this charm, players essentially tame the mystical blupees and can use them to fight off the many enemies that inhabit Hyrule. Waikuteru shows off how, with the blupees by his side, Link makes short work of even the hardiest of overworld bosses, such as hinoxes, guardians, and lynels.

One common The Legend of Zelda enemy that was not shown to be defeated by the adorable and ethereal blupees, however, was that of the Cucco. Cuccos have long been considered some of the Zelda series’ most formidable creatures, thanks to their unrelenting attacks on Link and unwavering comradery for their kin – a phenomenon that has resulted in them being nicknamed “The Cucco Revenge Squad” by many Zelda fans. But, given the blupees' amazing resilience, with not one of these magical creatures shown to take any damage at all during the mod's showcasing, it is fair to assume that any battle against Cuccos with this mod installed would be one for the ages.

Hopefully, it will not be too much longer before Zelda fans hear more about Breath of the Wild’s sequel. While the most recent reveal for it was carefully curated to not give anything of great significance away, fans have already started speculating just what the next adventure to Hyrule may entail. In the meantime, though, another spin around Breath of the Wild with a blupee army at one’s side sounds like a pretty great way to pass the time.
