A pixel artist has imagined what The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild might look like as a pixel game, in the style of Zelda: A Link to the Past. BOTW is recognized as being one of the most visually impressive games in the longstanding series, but the artist's demake teases just how beautiful the game could look in the style of older Zelda games.

Twitter's Anfal_alzadjali's Zelda artwork takes the top-down, pixel style of A Link to the Past and blends it with some of Breath of the Wild's memorable moments. A shrine can be seen on a raised hill, still instantly recognizable with its blue and gold coloring despite the minimalist design. Meanwhile, a Guardian enemy slumbers in the weeds nearby. The creator has even added a gold BOTW chest that players of A Link to the Past should find familiar, similar to those seen across the earlier Zelda games. Eagle-eyed fans should notice even further details in the fanart, including a hidden cave waiting to be bombed open, and grass ready to meet Link's sword in exchange for Rupees. The wonderful piece has amassed a lot of attention on Twitter, receiving over 5,000 Likes at the time of writing.

The Zelda series is known for its varied art styles, which tend to change depending on the place in the timeline that each game takes place. While players haven't seen a pixel addition to the series in a long time, the creator's demake artwork - and its reception from Zelda fans - shows that there's definitely interest in such a game coming in the future. Nintendo is currently working on Breath of the Wild 2, but a new pixel Zelda isn't outside of the realms of possibility for the future.
