A modding team's huge The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild DLC will soon a new location and an overhauled shop system. Zelda: Breath of the Wild is Nintendo’s first attempt at an open-world Zelda game, and much like open-world games such as Skyrim and Red Dead Redemption 2, modders have had a field day with all the potential content they can add. Some modders have added small things to the popular Nintendo game, such as a new feature to Link’s house. Other modders have transformed the game. One brought a Mario Kart track to Hyrule and another recreated one of Super Mario 64’s most iconic levels within the game. Mods in Zelda: Breath of the Wild have always added premier content, but one fan-made DLC has brought massive amounts of new content to the game.

While some modders have added quality-of-life changes to Zelda: Breath of the Wild, a team of super fans created an entire DLC for gamers to enjoy. Modder Waikuteru, found a hidden shrine within the game’s code, labeled as ‘Dunegon136.' The discovery of this previously-unknown dungeon opened up a world of possibilities for the game, and the modder was quickly able to restore the dungeon’s shrine. Waikuteru revealed that the template could be used to make completely new shrines, similar to Super Mario Maker. The modder didn’t stop there and has gone on to oversee the production of a brand new DLC for Zelda: Breath of the Wild entitled: Second Wind.

Revealed in gameplay footage by Waikuteru, Second Wind will soon be updated with a new shop system, location, and NPC to Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Mostly focused on the brand-new shop and its collection of premium potions, a gameplay video reveals many of the new features this mod has added to the game. Most notably, the update will add the Witch, a witty shopkeeper who sells Link powerful potions. The gameplay video reveals just how powerful these potions are, as Link uses them to defeat a Lynel.

The mod is being worked on by 50 contributors and the outcome so far is outstanding, and this pending update promises to offer a variety of new gameplay options. One of the more humorous of them is the Witch, a shopkeeper who Link shoots down accidentally in bird-form. The shopkeeper not only offers a variety of potions, the most powerful of which is aptly named “Witch’s Potion" - but the character also punishes Link if the player does not make a purchase. Exiting out of the shop without buying anything can result in a loss of health or rupees, and on occasion, the Witch summons Keese to attack Link. Even so, it will be hard for a player to scroll through the powerful potions and neglect to purchase any as they offer incredible buffs and might just be among the most powerful Zelda items.

While Second Wind, the free, large-scale DLC for Zelda: Breathe of the Wild has been out for a while, its upcoming updates offer a variety of features that fans may want to get their hands on. With the new shop system, playful NPC, and potions galore coming to the mod, it’s evident that the group of community creators is still developing the mod to make it as feature-filled as possible.
