Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 could benefit from integrating an interesting mechanic into its gameplay: the wind bomb trick. Fans have discovered all kinds ways to utilize the physics of the original BOTW to travel more efficiently across Hyrule, such as using the whistling glitch that allows players to sprint infinitely. However, the wind bomb trick's ability to help with air travel would play particularly well in BOTW 2's strange setting.

Indeed, past E3 trailers have shown that the upcoming Switch title will turn Hyrule into a region filled with floating islands. This will certainly change exploration gameplay in BOTW 2, requiring Link to either fly or use magic to reach the heights of these hovering masses of land. Of course, Link gains Revali's Gale in BOTW, an ability that shoots Link high into the sky that would enable him to fly up to these islands. But how he will remain in the air long enough to fly between them remains a mystery.

Enter the wind bomb trick, a mechanic fans discovered in BOTW that allows Link to travel further while paragliding. While it is merely one of the many ways fans have broken BOTW at the moment, the game's sequel could transform it from just another BOTW trick or exploit to a standard tool that Link can have at his disposal. Doing so would enhance the traveling experience in BOTW 2 by making flying a more integral part of its gameplay.

How The Wind Bomb Trick Works In BOTW

The way the wind bomb trick works in BOTW is by using both the spherical and cubical bombs to transfer the energy of an explosion into Link's movement. To accomplish this, Link needs to first drop the spherical bomb while paragliding. He then needs to immediately drop the cubical bomb in front of it. Once both bombs are aligned while falling, Link then explodes the spherical bomb, which sends the cubical bomb flying into him, ultimately propelling him forward and allowing him to gain horizontal distance in the air without losing height.

BOTW 2 could fix one of BOTW's problems by making the wind bomb trick a tool rather than a complicated tactic. Exploration is such an important of the first game that it would be useful to have new ways to make it more involved and efficient. Removing the technical barrier of the wind bomb trick - which is a tricky thing to pull off, like many of the game's discovered mechanics - and creating a new tool to serve its purpose would solve this exact issue in Breath of the wild 2.
