A video showing Zack Snyder skateboarding through the Man of Steel set reveals the director's still got some serious skills on a deck. Snyder's 2013 movie, which rebooted the character of Superman for DC after the relative failure of 2006's Superman Returns, starred Henry Cavill as the Kryptonian sent to earth after his home planet is destroyed. Snyder and Cavill made two more films together in the franchise, reuniting for Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League.
Snyder is currently working on his director's cut of the latter movie, which reportedly includes an expanded role for many characters, including Cavill's Superman. The much-anticipated new version of Justice League will complete Snyder's arc for the character, which began with Man of Steel. The theatrical version famously jettisoned many scenes from Snyder's original script, including change how Superman is resurrected, causing the notorious CGI mustache removal to happen during the extensive reshoots.
Snyder's passion for the DC universe and its characters is evident, and he takes the task of bringing them to life very seriously most of the time. However, a video that he posted to Vero in August reveals that he's not always all business. The lighthearted clip shows Snyder zooming around the House of El set on a skateboard, pulling some impressive moves for a man who was already in his late 40s by that time. You can watch the video below:
Snyder's caption reveals that it was shot of the House of El set, which featured heavily in the early scenes of Man of Steel. Snyder is clearly having fun during the clip, messing around either during a break or after a day of shooting. It's uncertain whether the studio would have approved of their director whizzing around the multi-million dollar set, but there were no ill consequences from the escapade.
It's just the latest behind-the-scenes snap Snyder has shared on Vero, with the director being one of the most enthusiastic filmmakers when it comes to communicating with his fans. He used the platform to reveal snippets from his original cut of Justice League, which led to momentum growing behind the Snyder Cut campaign, leading Warner Bros. to greenlight the film earlier this year.
The Director's Cut of Justice League will finally see the light of day on HBO Max sometime next year. Snyder has revealed it will be split into four one-hour episodes like a mini-series, and the trailer he released at DC FanDome makes it look as epic as fans had hoped. Upon its release, Snyder will finally be able to complete his story, which started seven years ago, with Man of Steel.
