Zack Snyder opens up on if he has talked to DC Studios about the DC Universe ever since James Gunn and Peter Safran came in as the new CEOs. Since 2013, the DCU has been consistently growing as Warner Bros. adapts several iconic DC superhero and villains from page to the big screen. The interconnected universe began with Man of Steel, starring Henry Cavill as the latest cinematic take on Superman, as Snyder set the stage for what would become the DCU.

With the launch of DC Studios, with Gunn and Safran leading it for Warner Bros. Discovery, many have wondered if Snyder would perhaps be one of the filmmakers to be contacted about returning to the DCU. During a recent appearance on The Preston and Steve Show, Snyder was asked if anyone had reached out to him since DC Studios launched on November 1. While Snyder wished them all the best, the filmmaker confirmed that as of right now, no one had contacted him about working on any further DCU projects.

"As far as I know, which is very little, I am doing my thing and haven't had anyone give me a call or anything. So I a just wishing them all the best and hoping that they make some cool movies ."

What The DCU Looks Like Without Snyder

Zack Snyder and the DCEU Justice League

The last film that Snyder had any involvement with that had direct ties to the DCU was 2017's Justice League, which was heavily changed by Joss Whedon when he took over the post-production stage. Since 2017, the DCU has gone forward without Snyder, although he remained a producer on Aquaman, Wonder Woman 1984, and The Suicide Squad. Even though Snyder hasn't helmed or written any further DCU films, his foundation is still there as he was integral to casting the entire Justice League from the very beginning.

With the formation of DC Studios, Safran and Gunn will be overseeing live-action movies, tv shows, as well as animated projects as they go forward with a new director for the DC brand. While it doesn't necessarily mean reboot, it's more about refocusing on what has worked with the DCU over the last couple of years. For the time being, it doesn't seem as if Snyder is someone they are thinking about, but then again, Gunn and Safran haven't been able to disclose too much yet to the public since the new division was launched.

Could The Snyderverse Continue?

Snyder Justice League

Even though the previous Warner Bros. regime had no intention of continuing the Snyderverse, there have always been questions surrounding the filmmaker possibly getting a chance to finish his universe as the studio restructured the ways they go about making DCU films. Despite Gunn and Safran not having contacted Snyder as of right now, that doesn't mean that they couldn't do it in the future. With Snyder being busy working on Rebel Moon for Netflix, the director is already occupied with other projects, meaning any Snyderverse projects wouldn't be able to happen until at least a few years from now. Whether it would be to continue the Snyderverse or return to the DCU, time will tell if Snyder ever does work with DC Studios on future projects.
