A documentary on the making of Zack Snyder's Justice League featuring an interview with Snyder debuts on HBO Max the same day as the movie. The long-awaited director's cut of the DC superhero team-up finally lands on HBO Max, Warner Media's streaming service, in the USA this Thursday, March 18. Global fans will also be able to watch on VOD in certain markets. Early reviews for Zack Snyder's Justice League are mixed but skew positive, as critics compare it favorably to the much shorter and tonally inconsistent theatrical version released back in 2017.

The release, of course, wouldn't have been possible without the online fan movement that started calling for the so-called Snyder Cut to be released a few years ago. The social media campaign slowly gained momentum and got to the point where Warner Bros. realized it had an almost guaranteed hit on its hands if it wanted to let Snyder finish his original vision for the movie. What's resulted is arguably the first big release of 2021, albeit via streaming platforms only at this point. Millions of fans are almost assured of tuning in on Thursday, so long as the technical problems that delayed the virtual premiere don't affect the movie's release.

Now, behind-the-scenes cameraman Simon Firsht has revealed that not only will Zack Snyder's Justice League be available on HBO Max from March 18, but also a making-of documentary. Firsht, who was on set for the original shoot, posted the news on his Instagram account, confirming the 30-minute documentary contains "never before seen" footage, along with an interview with Snyder. Firsht's post, and details on the behind-the-scenes documentary, can be seen below:

The news should keep Snyder's colossal fan base happy, as they'll not only be able to finally watch his version of Justice League after years of waiting but will also get a DVD extras-style behind-the-scenes look at the making of the movie. Firsht doesn't confirm if the footage he shot includes a look at the recent reshoots featuring Jared Leto, Ben Affleck, and others. But the assumption is it'll cover every phase of the movie's production, barring the controversial reshoots involving replacement director Joss Whedon.

The documentary promises, then, to reveal even more about one of the most speculated and talked about film productions in history. Don't expect anything too controversial, though, as it's been approved by Warner Bros., who will want to keep the material as sanitized and free of conflict as possible. Still, a look behind the curtain at how Zack Snyder's Justice League came to be is enticing enough to ensure audiences will tune in as soon as they've watched the movie.
