Zack Snyder's Justice League gets a comic make-over in new variant covers for Justice League #59. With the revamped "Snyder Cut" HBO Max film barreling towards its March 18 debut, and acclaimed writer Brian Michael Bendis beginning his run on the title on March 16, 2021 is very much the year of the Justice League, and DC are celebrating these huge events by bringing them together in style. Featuring characters as they'll appear in their movie incarnations, the covers also include characters like Darkseid and Martian Manhunter - new additions to Snyder's version of the film.

Bendis and artist David Marquez are taking over Justice League as DC's new Infinite Frontier initiative begins. Recently, DC teased a new star-studded lineup of the world's greatest heroes, including the likes of Superman, Batman, the Flash, Aquaman, Hawkgirl, Hippolyta, Black Adam, and Naomi. The Justice League relaunch promises to reinvent the league as fans know it, and while it's likely to take few cues from Snyder's version of the team, that just means March is bringing fans two strong visions of what the Justice League can be.

Three covers celebrating Snyder's epic vision will be released, each also available in black and white and available for $5.99 at participating stores, with the comic-book heroes bearing the likenesses of their filmic counterparts. The issue itself will see a new threat from young hero Naomi's home world, as well as a back-up story exploring the adventures of the magical Justice League Dark. The first variant cover, from artist Lee Bermejo, features an intimidating Darkseid staring down on Superman and Flash. Superman is wearing the Snyder Version-exclusive black suit, and the cover includes movie-like credits, giving it the feel of a combo comic cover/film poster.

Artist Liam Sharp delivers the second variant cover, which features comic versions of Ben Affleck's Batman and Ray Fisher's Cyborg. In the background, a looming Steppenwolf is suited up in his newly designed suit of armor. It's worth noting that in choosing the elements of the cover, it's not just the Justice League film that's being touted but - with new characters, different costumes, and increased focus on some characters - Snyder's specific cut, which has been hotly anticipated by many fans.

DC Comics legend and Chief Creative Officer Jim Lee draws the third and final variant cover, presenting a first look at Harry Lennix's Martian Manhunter - a hotly anticipated addition, and a beloved comic character who has so far enjoyed very little love on the bif screen. Alongside him are the battle-ready movie versions of Wonder Woman and Aquaman.

Justice League fans eager for the team's new era will be ecstatic to also own a piece of film history, as the rocky road for Jack Snyder's Justice League finally terminates in a finished product, right as Brian Michael Bendis and David Marquez begin their own reinvention of DC's flagship team. With the Snyder Cut having become a huge focus of fan support and discussion, DC are smart to give its battle-worn supporters a trophy that can take pride of place on their wall or shelf.
