Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice director Zack Snyder has shared a photo from Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot and Henry Cavill's very first time in costume together as Batman, Wonder Woman and Superman. The movie marked the first time that DC's 'Holy Trinity' had ever been seen together in a live-action feature film, and served as a launching pad for the DC Extended Universe (though officially the franchise began with Man of Steel).

Though critics didn't have a lot of love for Batman V Superman, it holds a special place in the heart of many DC fans, with Snyder's love for the characters clearly shining through. The director is currently gearing up to direct an adaptation of Ayn Rand's The Fountainhead, but this week he took to new social media app Vero to share behind-the-scenes details about Man of Steel, Batman V Superman and Justice League.

Among the cooler tidbits that Snyder shared was a behind-the-scenes picture of the first photo shoot with Cavill, Affleck and Gadot on the set of Batman V Superman. This may be the same session where much of the film's marketing imagery (including the poster excerpt above) was shot. Aside from the rather worryingly intense way that Batman is glaring at Wonder Woman, this is a neat look behind the scenes of a major moment in superhero movie history.

It's hard to tell what the setpiece behind the three actors is, but if this is the first time that the Trinity were together in costume then it's most likely the set for the climactic battle with Doomsday. The three superheroes were reunited in last year's Justice League, which was originally directed by Snyder but then partly reshot by Joss Whedon. All three members of the Trinity have upcoming solo movies at various stages of development, and this year will see their pal Aquaman (played by Jason Momoa) star in his first solo movie.

Snyder also confirmed that he is still serving as a producer on Wonder Woman 2, which is set to begin filming in the UK this summer. Meanwhile, there are rumors that Warner Bros. is targeting a 2020 release for the sequel to Man of Steel, and Matt Reeves (War For the Planet of the Apes) is currently in pre-production on the next Batman solo movie.
