Mai Valentine is a power duelist who appeared in the original Yu-Gi-Oh! anime. She is known for her affinity for Harpie Lady monsters, a female-centric archetype that is based around powering itself up and swarming the field. Mai used plenty of these cards during her tenure on the anime, but plenty more have been released since the show wrapped.
If Mai were to duel in the current day, there are plenty of cards that she would add to her deck in order to bolster it for the meta. Of course, she’d need some help in new summoning styles like Synchro, Xyzs, and Link.
Cyber Slash Harpie Lady
Cyber Slash Harpie Lady is a newer Synchro Harpie Lady that is a retrain of the older Cyber Harpie Lady, one of Mai’s signature cards. The Synchro monster is level 8 and has 2600 attack points, and requires one tuner and one regular monster to summon. However, a Harpie can be used in place of a Tuner monster.
Cyber Slash Harpie Lady can return an opposing monster or allied Harpie to the player’s hand once per turn when an effect is activated unless it’s during the battle step.
Harpie Harpist
Harpie Harpist is a level-four effect Harpie, and once per turn she can activate one of her effects. The first allows her to return a winged-beast on a player's side of the field or to their hand along with an opponent’s monster when she’s summoned.
Otherwise, if the card is sent to the graveyard, she can add a winged-beast from the deck to the hand with less than 1500 attack points.
Harpie Conductor
Harpie Conductor is the archetype’s Link monster. Sporting 1900 attack points and requiring two wind monsters to summon, Harpie Conductor can use each of her effects once per turn. If a Harpie would be destroyed, a spell or trap card can be destroyed in its place.
Additionally, if a Harpie is returned to the hand, players can return a special summoned monster from the opponent back to the hand. Of course, Harpie Conductor plays very well with the two previous monsters on the list and plenty of others.
Harpie Dancer
Once per turn. Harpie Dancer allows the player to return a wind monster that they control back to the hand and then normal summon a wind monster from the hand, allowing Harpie Conductor to use her ability essentially for free.
With this in mind, the opponent will be sending monsters back to their hand left and right. Take that, Joey.
Harpie Lady Elegance
Harpie Lady Elegance is a trap card that has the player shuffle one Harpie Lady Sisters into the deck, and from there, three different Harpie Ladies can be summoned in their place, making this sort of act as an Elegant Egotist with its anime effect.
For the rest of the turn, only wind monsters can be special summoned. If this card is destroyed by the opponent or an allied Harpie’s effect (Harpie Conductor, probably) players can add a Harpie from the deck to the hand. The only downside to this card is that Harpie Lady Sisters actually has to be used. It’s got some great effects otherwise.
Harpie’s Pet Phantasmal Dragon
Harpie’s Pet Phantasmal Dragon is the archetype’s Xyz monster, and requires three-level four wind monsters to summon. This card’s effects only kick in while it has material, and it loses one during each end phase.
Otherwise, the opponent cannot target any Harpies with effects or attacks. Additionally, it can attack directly with 2000 attack points. Not bad at all. The original dragon is probably ready for retirement now.
Harpie Channeler
Harpie Channeler is a level four effect monster that allows the player to discard a Harpie in order to special summon one from the deck in defense position except for Harpie Channeler.
Additionally, when the player controls a dragon, this monster becomes level seven. This can pop various Harpie effects or be used for Xyz summoning, whichever is needed at the time.
Harpie Perfumer
Harpie's Perfumer is able to add a spell or trap card to the hand that mentions Harpie Lady Sisters upon summoning, of which there are plenty.
Additionally, if players control a level five or higher Harpie at the time that this effect is activated, such as with Harpie Channeler's effect activated, another card of the same type with a different name can also be added to the hand, which can be super versatile.
Harpie Oracle
Harpie Oracle has two different effects, both of which can be activated once per turn. If a player controls a level five or higher Harpie Lady, they can special summon this card from the hand.
Additionally, it can add a spell or trap card that mentions Harpie Lady Sisters to the hand from the graveyard upon summoning, complementing Harpie Lady Perfumer perfectly.
Harpie’s Pet Baby Dragon
Harpie's Pet Baby Dragon gains an additional effect with each Harpie that is on the field. With one, this is the only Harpie on the field that can be targeted for attacks.
With two, this card's attack and defense are doubled, which will put its attack at 2400. Additionally, with a third Harpie, the player can target and destroy one card of the opponent's per turn. Not bad at all.
