One of the most powerful duelists in the entire Yu-Gi-Oh! anime is without a doubt Seto Kaiba, creator of the Duel Disk and all-around a great guy to hang out with. One of the most underrated players of the series is Mai Valentine, who has a deck filled with powerful cards.

In terms of their decks, how do these two stack up against one another? Would Mai's Harpie Ladies take down Kaiba's Blue-Eyes White Dragon, or would Kaiba's monster take down her winged creatures?

Mai: Her Swarming Abilities

One thing that Mai does very well is swarming, it's built into the DNA of her deck. The most notable card that allows her to do this is Elegant Egotist, which allows her to turn one Harpie Lady into three, which is incredibly powerful.

This allows her to very quickly swarm the field with some of her most powerful monsters, which is something even Kaiba would have trouble facing off against.

Kaiba: His Boss Monsters

One thing that Kaiba has on his side is sheer power. He has an array of different boss monsters that are incredibly hard to deal with, such as his famous Blue-Eyes White Dragon.

Mai would have trouble taking on the card as she doesn't have very many high-attack point creatures on her side of the field. At the very least, she really won't have to worry about taking on any spell or trap cards.

Mai: Harpie's Feather Duster

Mai's Harpie's Feather Duster is one of her strongest cards, without a doubt. Harpie's Feather Duster allows Mai to wipe out her opponent's entire back row with absolutely no downside. This is hugely powerful, even being banned in the real-life card game for some time.

Anyone would have a tough time dealing with this card, even someone as powerful as Seto Kaiba. This would give Mai a huge leg up in their duel.

Kaiba: Has An Extra Deck

One thing that Mai somehow never had in the anime was an extra deck, likely due to the fact that Harpies didn't have any fusion support at this time.

Still, it's surprising that she didn't have any form of this support for her deck. Kaiba, on the other hand, had plenty of fusion monsters at his disposal that he could weaponize against Mai pretty easily if he needed to, such as one that will be discussed a bit later.

Mai: Her Trap Cards

Mirror Wall in Yu-Gi-Oh!

Mai has quite a few trap cards at her disposal that will really help her out against a duelist like Kaiba. With so many high-attack point monsters in Kaiba's deck, Mai needs to get creative.

Her trap card Mirror Wall would be a huge boon against him. Upon attacking, Mirror Wall halves the opposing monster's attack points - which would give Mai a solid option to dealing with cards like Blue-Eyes White Dragon.

Kaiba: Obelisk The Tormentor

Depending on what point of the series this duel would be taking place in - Mai might have a big problem to contend with, a very large problem. An Obelisk-sized problem, to be precise.

If Kaiba has Obelisk the Tormentor in his deck, Mai will need to figure out a clever way to deal with it... one that her deck might not actually have. Luckily, if this duel is taking place in the present, she won't have to deal with the card, as Kaiba no longer has it in his deck.

Mai: Her Combo Potential

Yu-Gi-Oh-Mai-Valentine

As previously noted, Mai's Harpie Ladies are able to multiply with Elegant Egotist. What's great about this card is that it allows the copies to retain all upgrades that the original has, such as if it is equipped with a spell-like Cyber Shield. Mai has a ton of great combos like this in her deck.

Kaiba: His Four-Star Monsters

Kaiba's First Duel against Yugi

Mai's deck is made up of mostly four-star monsters, which isn't a bad thing. The negative here is that a lot of Kaiba's four-star monsters are stronger than Mai's, with most having 1900 attack points.

Mai would need to get her Harpies powered up pretty quickly if she hopes to contend with some of Kaiba's four-star monsters such as Vorse Raider. At least they're mainly normal monsters.

Mai: Harpie's Pet Dragon

Harpie's Pet Dragon is a seven-star monster that starts out with 2000 attack points, but gains 300 for each Harpie Lady on the field. As noted earlier, Mai is able to swarm the field with Harpies pretty easily with cards like Elegant Egotist.

With four Harpies on the field, their pet dragon would reach 3200 attack points, which is going to be stronger than many of Kaiba's cards, like Blue-Eyes White Dragon. But not stronger than one of Kaiba's strongest monsters.

Kaiba: Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon

Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon has a massive 4500 attack points, which is very hard for Mai to take on. In order to defeat this card, she would likely need to combo a powered-up Harpie's Pet Dragon with Mirror Wall, which comes with an array of challenges by itself. If this card is on the field, the scales are going to tip in Kaiba's favor very quickly.
