'Your Highness' Trailer & Poster: Swords, Shields and Silliness

Your Highness trailer James Franco Natalie Portman

Question of the day: what do you get when the director of a stoner action/comedy flick teams up with Eastbound & Down's Kenny Powers to make an intentionally silly medieval adventure that features fantastical creatures and Natalie Portman doing her best Xena: Warrior Princess impersonation? The answer is Your Highness.

An official green band trailer and poster are now out for this flick, which reunites Pineapple Express helmer David Gordon Green with James Franco for a movie that looks a bit more like a humorous action pic than a flat-out parody in the style of Robin Hood: Men in Tights.

Here's an official description of the premise for Your Highness:

Throughout history, tales of chivalry have burnished the legends of brave, handsome knights who rescue fair damsels, slay dragons and conquer evil. But behind many a hero is a good-for-nothing younger brother trying just to stay out of the way of those dragons, evil and trouble in general.

Danny McBride is the unaccomplished prince in question, Thadeous, who must team up with his far more handsome and brave sibling, Fabious (Franco), in order to rescue the latter's fiancee, Belladonna (Zooey Deschanel) from the wicked wizard Leezar (Justin Theroux). The brothers are aided on their quest by Isabel (Portman), a lady warrior who's quite skilled with a bow and arrow - not to mention, able to give the skeevy Thadeous a major beat-down without even breaking a sweat.

The pratfalls, raunchy punchlines, and overall risque humor in this official Your Highness theatrical preview don't pack as much punch as they did in the red band trailer, but that's often the case with R-Rated comedies like this. That in part also accounts for why a good chunk of the green band trailer focuses on sword fights, carriage chases, and other action sequences - as opposed to the film's NSFW humor.

Your Highness features a solid cast composed of actors that thrive at playing goofballs and charming leading ladies - hopefully, the film itself will be an entertaining farce that largely plays out like Monty Python and the Holy Grail for contemporary moviegoers.
