New 'Your Highness' Red Band Trailer Shows Off Its Lewd Side

Most Anticipated Movies of 2011 - Your Highness

It seems like a rule nowadays that the  spring/summer movie seasons yield at least one sleeper hit comedy, and this year the competition is still wide open with films like Paul, Bridesmaids and Your Highness all hitting theaters. (Sorry, but The Hangover 2 doesn't really count as a sleeper at this point.)

In the case of Your Highness, we've seen a trailer that suggests the movie will be a fun mashup of comedy and medieval adventure, as well as a red band trailer that let us know that there will be some foul-language fun to be had as well.

Today we have a second Your Highness red band trailer, one that clues us in to the fact that, in addition to good medieval fun and potty-mouth humor, this film will also offer a fair bit of nudity and explicit  sexual humor - so parents, take note: this one is not for the kiddies!

Before we get to the trailer, a quick synopsis about what Your Highness is all about:

Thadeous (Danny McBride) has spent his life watching his perfect older brother Fabious (James Franco) embark upon valiant journeys and win the hearts of his people. Tired of being passed over for adventure, adoration and the throne, he's settled for a life of wizard's weed, hard booze and easy maidens. But when Fabious' bride-to-be, Belladonna (Zooey Deschanel), gets kidnapped by the evil wizard Leezar (Justin Theroux), the king gives his deadbeat son an ultimatum: Man up and help rescue her or get cut off. Joined by Isabel (Natalie Portman)--an elusive warrior with a dangerous agenda of her own--the brothers must vanquish horrific creatures and traitorous knights before they can reach Belladonna. If Thadeous can find his inner hero, he can help his brother prevent the destruction of his land. Stay a slacker, and not only does he die a coward, he gets front row seats to the dawn of an all-new Dark Ages.

So, this movie does seem to have an actual storyline, complete with plot and character arcs. But in addition to all that good stuff, you'll also be getting this [WARNING NSFW]:

The director, David Gordon Green, made Pineapple Express, a movie that I personally felt was an odd mashup of action and stoner comedy - at least when I saw it in theaters. Since then, PE has grown on me with each repeated viewing. Your Highness seems to have blended genres even more successfully than Pineapple Express did, and my only real worry for the film is that the crudeness will get pushed so far passed funny to the point of obnoxiousness, as is always a risk with any film or show featuring Danny McBride. (Eastbound & Bound is really hit or miss for me.)

For the time being, though, I'm going into this film hopeful that it will be the comedy that walks away with the crown this season.

Your Highness embarks into theaters on April 8, 2011.
