Warning! SPOILERS for Young Sheldon season 6.With Young Sheldon season 6, episode 9 showing Missy’s (Raegan Revord) disastrous date with her romantic interest Dean, the introduction of Missy's dating woes could make the future revelation of George’s affair much worse. Missy’s social life has long been an important part of her narrative arc in Young Sheldon. However, despite a few previous boy-related woes, Young Sheldon season 6, episode 9, “College Dropouts and the Medford Miracle,” marks Missy’s first official date, as chaperoned by Meemaw (Annie Potts). Dean’s (Travis Burnett) interest in spending time with Meemaw over Missy, as he misses his own grandmother, quickly ends their second date. With Missy's personal dating life off to a bad start, this could potentially make George’s affair worse.

Young Sheldon’s parent series The Big Bang Theory already established Missy’s bad luck with romantic partners throughout her life, despite Young Sheldon eventually confirming that she happily remarried later in life. With Missy’s dating experiences likely to go wrong, they could also affect George’s upcoming cheating scandal in Young Sheldon when the Coopers receive the news of the affair. If Young Sheldon season 6 continues with Missy struggling to find happy, healthy romance, she might need support from her family — as she generously lent them her support throughout Young Sheldon. With Missy needing more support from her family to deal with her shaky love life, the future revelation of George’s affair would only hurt her more.

Aside from Missy’s streak of terrible romantic partners, as confirmed by The Big Bang Theory, Missy’s dating is unlikely to lead to a stable relationship anytime soon, given her young age. Her dating mishaps might nevertheless offer the rest of her family the opportunity to be supportive of Missy for a change. Indeed, whether she proved sympathetic to Sheldon’s difficulties in acclimatizing to having separate rooms in Young Sheldon season 5 or supportive of Mary when her church kicked her out, Young Sheldon already proved Missy to be the smartest Cooper kid, with her emotional intelligence making her stand out every time she helped her loved ones overcome a personal issue.

If Missy deals with heartbreak throughout her dating experiences in Young Sheldon, George's support would be reassuring for her. However, even if this all proves true and Missy finds George’s support soothing, when his affair is revealed in Young Sheldon, all of his advice would lose meaning and prove him to be a hypocrite in Missy's eyes. This would prove especially painful for Missy, as she would feel betrayed by her father's behavior in a way that contradicts his advice, confusing her sense of what's right and wrong when it comes to dating.

Young Sheldon Can't Prevent Missy's S6 Story Making George's Affair Worse

However, Young Sheldon could lead Missy to more tragedy, if her dating woes go completely unnoticed by her family. Having always been wholly supportive of each and every one of her loved ones, Missy would benefit from the Coopers’ backing when she needs their support. Having her problems ignored by her family would make Missy feel neglected, as the Coopers wouldn’t grant her the same kindness she offered to them countless times. Having George’s affair revealed amidst her dating troubles could make her feel even more aimless, essentially making Young Sheldon season 6’s Missy romance storyline something that could only worsen George’s upcoming cheating scandal.
