The Young Sheldon season 6 fall finale reiterates that Missy is indeed the smartest Cooper kid. Despite being barely on The Big Bang Theory, Sheldon's twin sister has become a fan-favorite on Young Sheldon thanks to her charm and sense of humor. She provides straightforward and sometimes even painfully honest commentary, which makes for great comedic moments on the prequel spin-off. Sadly, Missy has been overlooked by her parents because she isn't as intellectually gifted as Sheldon and doesn't have the entrepreneurial skills that Georgie has. However, Young Sheldon just included a reminder that Missy is really the smartest out of Mary and George's kids.
The Coopers have had a tumultuous Young Sheldon season 5 finale. George and Mary both lost their jobs, while Sheldon suddenly developed a fear of the future. Meanwhile, Georgie was faced with the uncertainty of becoming a father, which led to her and Meemaw getting arrested. Throughout it all, Missy became everyone's emotional support, relegating her to a supporting player with no real arc, which is a shame considering how fascinating she is as a character - and how much she's underestimated.
Missy Knows That Mary & George’s Marriage Fix Is A Lie
Despite not being academically gifted like Sheldon, Missy is clearly more emotionally-intelligent than his brother, and the show highlights how this can be more important in some situations. While the rest of the family is oblivious to what's really happening, Missy knows that Mary and George's marriage fix is a lie, hence why she immediately thought of her parents getting a divorce when she found out that they hired a lawyer. The only Cooper daughter recognizes that the reconciliation between the couple isn't built to last because they still haven't addressed their real problems.
A big issue plaguing George and Mary's relationship is the Cooper matriarch's secret attraction to Youth Pastor Rob. Besides Mary, only Missy knows about this after she caught her mother having a moment with the church Youth Pastor on Young Sheldon season 6. Missy could be well-aware that Mary's attraction to Pastor Rob could spell the end of her parents' marriage, so she's keeping quiet about it, hoping that they will resolve it themselves. This shows maturity on her part, reinforcing the idea that overall, Missy is really the smartest Cooper kid.
When Will Mary & George’s Marriage Crumble On Young Sheldon?
While Young Sheldon season 6 shows Mary and George's relationship being on the mend, their marriage will inevitably crumble. Based on Sheldon's story, the Cooper patriarch will engage in an extra-marital affair. It's unclear if Mary knows about this particular relationship, but considering her general outlook toward her dead husband, it's safe to say that they will have a falling out sooner or later. This could happen in the next year or two, considering where Young Sheldon currently is on the established timeline. In any case, CBS doesn't have any reason to rush its storytelling; instead, taking advantage of this limited peaceful time with the Coopers.
