Ahead of its season 6 premiere, Young Sheldon has already spoiled the outcome of season 5's cliffhanger finale, which saw Meemaw (Annie Potts) and Georgie (Montana Jordan) sent to jail. CBS's premier comedy series ended its fifth year with a massive question regarding Meemaw and Georgie's situation after they were arrested at the border. Instead of waiting for Young Sheldon season 6 to return, however, the pair's fate has been inadvertently revealed.

Things took a dark turn for the Coopers toward the end of Young Sheldon season 5. Georgie revealed that he and his much-older girlfriend, Mandy (Emily Osment), were pregnant. This caused all sorts of trouble at home, with George (Lance Barber) and Mary (Zoe Perry) forced to also re-evaluate their marriage. Their constant fighting affected Sheldon (Iain Armitage) greatly, while Missy (Raegan Revord) handled things better. Throughout all this, Meemaw has been a great help, even accompanying Georgie on a trip south of the border to smuggle cigarettes for additional income. Unfortunately for them, they got caught.

Details about Meemaw and Georgie's arrest in the Young Sheldon season 5 finale are unclear, but they opted to call George for help. The CBS comedy didn't reveal what the Cooper patriarch's next move would be; however, a new detail has spoiled that, ultimately, the pair will be getting out of jail. As apparent in a new behind-the-scenes Young Sheldon season 6 image of Annie Potts, Meemaw at least is free and back at the Coopers' house. Since there's no context given, it's difficult to gauge what exactly is going on in this particular scene, but it's clear that Sheldon's grandmother is back in Medford and no longer being at the border.

How Did Meemaw and Georgie Get Out Of Jail?

Meemaw (Annie Potts) in Jail In Young Sheldon Season 5 Finale

Georgie and Meemaw's arrest came at the most unfortunate time for the Coopers. Aside from still reeling from the news about Georgie and Mandy's pregnancy, George and Mary also just got fired from their respective jobs. Pastor Jeff (Matt Hobby) and his church turned their backs on Mary, while George chose his pride and quit as Medford High School's football coach. With the house still mortgaged and the kids going to school, the family is on the brink of a financial crisis. Given this, the Coopers can't afford bail for Meemaw and Georgie. Somehow, though, George will come through for his son and mother-in-law. Whether that means he uses his own money, borrows it from someone else, like Dale (Craig T. Nelson), or taps into Meemaw's savings from her thriving business, he gets the pair out of jail.

Now that it is established that Meemaw and Georgie will be freed from jail in Young Sheldon season 6, the more interesting part of the plotline is the ramifications of the arrest. Firstly, expect that Mary will have an intense reaction to what happened to her son and mother. Secondly, it's curious what Mandy's reaction will be to this when she finds out. Considering her skepticism about Georgie's ability to be a father, this may actually dissuade her from getting him involved in the pregnancy altogether. Viewers will find out the answers to these additional questions when Young Sheldon returns with season 6 this fall.
