Warning! Spoilers ahead for Young Sheldon season 6, episode 20. Young Sheldon season 6, episode 20 subtly sets up a few more The Big Bang Theory stories. CBS' family comedy is down to its final few outings before it officially wraps up the year. Aside from culminating season-long storylines, Young Sheldon season 6 is also actively laying the groundwork for many known plot lines from The Big Bang Theory. That includes Sheldon's upcoming summer stint in Germany. Aside from moving the boy genius' arc in preparation for his move to Pasadena, Young Sheldon season 6, episode 20, "German For Beginners and Crazy Old Man With A Bat" also plants narrative seeds for what's to come for the rest of the Coopers.

With the possibility of Young Sheldon ending after season 7, it makes sense that CBS has already started to tie loose narrative ends. Admittedly, the family comedy is infamously known for its lax approach to continuity, which has resulted in countless plot inconsistencies with The Big Bang Theory over the years. With CBS' insistence that it still exists in the same reality as its parent show, however, it's essentially mandated to align some of its storytelling to what was revealed in The Big Bang Theory. Young Sheldon season 6 penultimate episode does some of that.

4 Meemaw’s Illegal Gambling Den Gets Robbed

Meemaw Young Sheldon Season 6 Fall Trailer

Sheldon's Meemaw has always been known to have a penchant for gambling in Young Sheldon. So when she came up with the opportunity to run her own mini-casino in Medford, she unsurprisingly took advantage of it. The venture has grown significantly, with Georgie, George, Missy, and even Mandy helping out to run the business. Despite its success, Meemaw has had its fair share of difficulties managing it. Still, it continues to thrive, with a steady influx of customers and increasing revenue. This has allowed her to financially help the Coopers, particularly Mandy, after she was cut off by her own parents on the heels of her unexpected pregnancy.

In Young Sheldon season 6, episode 20, Meemaw is faced with a brand-new problem after she discovers that someone broke into her gambling den. Because the establishment is illegal, she is unable to ask for the help of the police, forcing her to take care of the issue herself. Sadly, it doesn't seem like she can do much about it, given her limited resources and manpower. While they think that the burglars have already been neutralized, it's possible that this is only the beginning of Meemaw's fresh woes with her business. It won't be surprising if she decides to close it altogether by the end of Young Sheldon.

3 Missy’s Meets A New Friend Who Is Clearly Trouble

Missy with her new friend in Young Sheldon Season 6, Episode 20

After ignoring Missy for a long time, Young Sheldon season 6 has finally started to make amends by giving the character her own narrative. Sadly, most of them are not flattering as they focus on her flaws, including her rebellious tendencies. On the heels of feeling fed up about always being ignored by her parents, she attempted to run away from home by stealing George's truck and going on a daring drive with Paige to Florida. While she has already dealt with the repercussions of her actions, it doesn't appear like she has learned her lesson.

In fact, Missy is becoming more daring in her choices, and it doesn't help that she gets a new friend who is clearly a bad influence on her. In Young Sheldon "German For Beginners and Crazy Old Man With A Bat," Sheldon's sister forms an unusual friendship with Pastor Jeff's niece, Tonya. Despite having a self-righteous uncle, Tonya has very low regard for authority, and she seems keen on dragging Missy down a dark path. At one point, she recruits Sheldon's twin to a night of drinking and smoking. Mary and George haven't caught their daughter's newfound vices yet, but hopefully, they do soon, before she gets in too deep with it.

2 Pastor Jeff Makes His Return

Pastor Jeff in Young Sheldon

The introduction of Tonya in Young Sheldon season 6 means that Pastor Jeff also makes an appearance. It has been a while since the character was on the show despite being the Coopers' neighbor. For context, Mary decided to leave the congregation after she was forced out of her job because of Mandy and Georgie's unexpected pregnancy. This has soured her relationship with Pastor Jeff. Despite being civil with each other, it's clear that there's still tension between the pair. However, considering Mary's religious nature in The Big Bang Theory, it's possible that Pastor Jeff's proximity to her could result in her eventually coming back to church.

Details about the Young Sheldon season 6 finale have long confirmed that the boy genius will ultimately move forward with his German summer program. That doesn't mean, however, that it hasn't been entertaining to see him try to resolve his lack of money dilemma in Young Sheldon "German For Beginners and Crazy Old Man With A Bat." The whole ordeal also highlights just how disliked the boy genius is in Medford, to the point that both the congregation and East Texas Tech faculty are willing to give money just to make sure that he leaves the state. Being socially inept, Sheldon doesn't recognize this.
