Brand-new Young Sheldon season 6 behind-the-scenes images reveal Georgie, Sheldon, and Missy all grown up. To take advantage of The Big Bang Theory's popularity, CBS greenlit the sitcom's first spinoff, which happens to be a prequel. As its title suggests, Young Sheldon tackles Sheldon's childhood in Texas, but as the project went on, it has shifted its storytelling to lean on its familial aspect, which is its best asset anyway. Given this, there has been ample attention on other members of the family, including Sheldon's siblings, Georgie and Missy, as well.
Young Sheldon season 6 has focused on several plotlines, mainly Georgie's narrative with Mandy who got unexpectedly pregnant in season 5. The show is also trying to fix Mary and George's marriage, which ultimately fails, while Sheldon's personal arc tends to be set at East Texas Tech. Amid this, Raegan Revord takes to her official Instagram account to share an image of all three Cooper kids together — a rarity on the family comedy, because everyone has been busy with their respective arcs. The snap, along with a host of others, highlights just how grown up they all look, with some fans asking them to stop aging in a non-malicious way.
Young Sheldon Season 6 Needs More Coopers Kids Scene
As previously mentioned, Young Sheldon has been tackling separate narratives for each member of the Cooper family. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, as it allows the show to diversify its storytelling by giving the major cast their due time to shine. Unfortunately, however, this results in the family barely having time together. Granted that they have dinners together from time to time, it's very rare to see the Cooper kids have a collective arc on their own. Sometimes they get paired with each other, but one always gets lost in the shuffle and tends to go on doing their own thing.
Given this, Young Sheldon needs to find more ways to bring all three kids together. While they are all growing up and dealing with their respective issues, one of the unique storytelling opportunities for a family comedy like The Big Bang Theory prequel is to showcase the bond of the siblings despite their significant differences. It could also help Young Sheldon, as it nears its potential end, make The Big Bang Theory's depiction of Georgie, Missy, and Sheldon by showing more of their dynamic growing up.
Tackling more lighthearted narratives is also important at this juncture, because Young Sheldon is potentially nearing its end. Even if CBS decides to stretch out its storytelling, George's impending cheating scandal and death, which the show cannot totally disregard, will change the sitcom's whole dynamic, making it difficult to tackle more comedic storylines. So, before that happens, it's best if The Big Bang Theory prequel takes advantage of this period to highlight the Cooper kids.
