Warning! Spoilers ahead for Young Sheldon season 6.

Amy plays a huge role in Sheldon's life, and Young Sheldon season 6 makes The Big Bang Theory story of how the two came to be together yet weirder. As an effort to expand The Big Bang Theory's core cast, CBS introduced Amy as the female version of Sheldon at the end of season 3. Since then, she became a member of the Pasadena gang while her slow-burn romance with Sheldon developed. Despite having a lot of similarities with each other, including both having poor social skills, Sheldon meeting Amy was still nothing short of a miracle, and Young Sheldon highlights that.

Sheldon and Amy's relationship had its fair share of ups and downs. She had a difficult time dealing with some of his quirks and idiosyncrasies while he struggled to navigate the world of dating. After a lot of hard work and thanks to the help of their friends, the couple survived and eventually got married. In The Big Bang Theory finale, they ended up winning the Nobel Prize in Physics. Young Sheldon subsequently revealed that their relationship is growing strong, as they eventually got a son named Leonard Cooper - though all of this is made yet more surreal by another detail the show places emphasis on.

In Young Sheldon season 6, episode 8, while discussing how to move forward with his planned grant database, Mary states that it's important he uses his invention to secure a financial future for his potential wife and kids. However, Sheldon says that he doesn't see himself having a family of his own. His indifference to the idea of one day getting married and having children in Young Sheldon season 6 suggests that he realizes that it's unlikely that he would meet someone that he would be interested in romantically, even at this young age, making his fated encounter with Amy more important and more surreally fortunate.

Even after Sheldon started hanging out with Amy on The Big Bang Theory, he was adamant that they weren't dating. Instead, he claimed that it was nothing but an innocent meeting of the minds. By then, Sheldon may still find the idea that he will find someone to be in love with still farfetched, hence why he was insistent that nothing was going on between them. As they continued to spend time with each other and Amy became less like Sheldon on TBBT, he realized that he was falling in love with her, and to make things weirder for him, she, too, was also head over heels for him.

Why Amy Was So Perfect For Sheldon On The Big Bang Theory

On paper, Amy was the perfect partner for Sheldon. Howard and Raj entered his information into a scientific-based online dating site, resulting in a perfect match with her on The Big Bang Theory. Beyond their compatibility, the reason why their relationship stood the test of time is revealed during Amy's Young Sheldon cameo: Amy figured out the best way to handle Sheldon at his best and worst. She called him out when he was being rude, but she was also understanding about his struggles in life. She was stern with her rules, but compassionate about his flaws. Amy made Sheldon a better person without using his transgressions against him.

Young Sheldon season 6 airs Thursdays on CBS.
