Expect exciting The Big Bang Theory Easter eggs in Young Sheldon season 5. The spin-off is getting ready to release new episodes after its mandatory summer hiatus. And while it's coming back a bit later this year, it seems like Young Sheldon season 5 will be worth the wait, especially for fans of its parent series.

Kicking off in 2017, Young Sheldon is the first spin-off from The Big Bang Theory franchise. Despite existing in the same reality, there are a lot of inconsistencies between the shows — something that loyal followers of the long-running sitcom don't like. But, in the last few years, CBS has been noticeably making an effort to make the connection, knowing full well that it would help Young Sheldon sustain its current popularity if it's able to tap into the fan community that its parent show has had. This is why references to Sheldon's time in Pasadena have become more frequent, and it will continue to stay that way coming into the new season.

Speaking with TV Line as part of the outlet's fall TV preview, show creator Steve Molaro teases a series of The Big Bang Theory Easter eggs peppered throughout Young Sheldon season 5. That said, don't expect another cameo like Amy Farrah-Fowler's (Mayim Bialik) surprise involvement in the season 4 opener. Instead, fans need to look into the spin-off's revelation of “the origin of Sheldon’s disdain for engineering.” Unfortunately, the producer didn't share when exactly this bit of information will be revealed, so viewers should keep an eye on the show throughout.

For context, Sheldon's stance on engineering caused him to endlessly mock Howard in The Big Bang Theory. Interestingly, Young Sheldon season 4 also featured a reference to Sheldon's hatred of engineering. In episode 10, "Cowboy Aerobics and 473 Grease-Free Bolts," he was tasked by Dr. Linkletter to scrub the grease of countless bolts. The genius felt this was a job beneath him, saying that it's a "tedious menial job to be performed by a monkey or worse, an engineer."

While Molaro understandably can't go into the narrative specifics, his quote doesn't mean there won't be any surprise cameo from any other The Big Bang Theory mainstays. After all, the report particularly states that the premiere doesn't have any guests. This makes sense considering that the focus will more likely be on the resolution of the Young Sheldon season 4 finale cliffhanger. Based on the episode trailer, nothing happens to Brenda and George outside of drinking at the bar. Her proposition that they leave the bustling pub didn't pan out as the Cooper patriarch suddenly suffered a health scare. But, since this is the beginning of George's infidelity storyline, expect that this won't be the end of his personal relationship with his neighbor. Young Sheldon season 5 premieres on October 7.
