Warning! Spoilers ahead for Young Sheldon season 6, episode 9.

Despite their very few similarities, not to mention their complicated relationship, Young Sheldon season 6 reveals that George gives Sheldon's most repulsive trait on The Big Bang Theory. Sheldon doesn't have many good things to say about his dad in The Big Bang Theory. Coupled with Mary's negative anecdotes, it's easy to assume the Cooper patriarch was a negligent parent. Young Sheldon has continued to contradict that notion, but occasionally, it highlights some of the bad aspects of the character.

Young Sheldon has created many TBBT plotholes throughout its run. Arguably its most prominent narrative inconsistency stems from its contradicting depictions of the Cooper family, although it's worse for George. Since he never physically appears in The Big Bang Theory, his character is initially established through other people's descriptions of him. While Young Sheldon has a penchant for softening George's image, season 6 reveals a dark side suggesting he instills Sheldon's most repulsive The Big Bang Theory trait.

Sheldon’s Scheming Ways In Big Bang Theory Comes From George

Young Sheldon and George

Mary's firing from the church effectively separates her from Pastor Rob. However, Pastor Rob is soon recruited by Medford High School to be the spiritual advisor for its football team, which George coaches. Understandably, this frustrates Sheldon's dad, especially since Pastor Rob is getting the credit for the team's success in the Young Sheldon season 6 winter premiere. To retaliate, George shows his conniving side by setting up Pastor Rob to fail and tarnish his image. This scheming way is reminiscent of Sheldon's ploys on The Big Bang Theory, especially when he wants to prove a point, as his dad does with Pastor Rob.

Sheldon is aware of his poor social and emotional skills, as seen on Young Sheldon, where he believes he will never have his circle of trusted people, let alone find a partner to marry and have kids with. Amidst all his negative traits, being conniving is arguably the most repulsive because he doesn't have any issues subjecting his friends to it. At one point, he even undermines Amy and her love of Christmas. He initially plays nice with her while secretly wanting to ruin the holiday for her. This makes Sheldon's friends tolerating him more impressive.

Sheldon’s Parents Gave Him His Worst Traits

Young Sheldon Season 5 George and Mary

While Young Sheldon further explores his relationship with his dad, he always has a closer bond with his mother. Mary has the tendency to coddle him, which the boy genius enjoys. It's becoming clear that he gets his worst traits from them. Aside from George's conniving ways, Young Sheldon season 4 already reveals Sheldon's self-centeredness comes from Mary, who has a penchant for being full of herself. In Young Sheldon's era, she thinks highly of herself, as she suggests she is the only one keeping her home and work life together — similar to how Sheldon typically is on The Big Bang Theory.

Young Sheldon season 6 airs every Thursday on CBS.
