Warning! Spoilers ahead for Young Sheldon.

Georgie's (Montana Jordan) unflattering story about Missy (Raegan Revord) on The Big Bang Theory has been effectively retconned by Young Sheldon. While Sheldon is the titular character of the premier CBS comedy, there's also ample interest in his family's collective and individual arcs. That includes his siblings, Missy and Georgie, who both appeared as adults in The Big Bang Theory

In its fifth year, Young Sheldon is veering away from The Big Bang Theory. Unlike the nerd-centric show which was a straight-up sitcom, its prequel is slowly transforming into a family comedy-drama. This means that instead of Sheldon always being the center of its storytelling, Young Sheldon is focusing on the whole Cooper clan. Currently, the family is occupied with Georgie's situation after he accidentally got his girlfriend pregnant. Interestingly, CBS also used this predicament to highlight Georgie and Missy's close relationship.

After learning that everyone tattled about Mandy's (Emily Osment) pregnancy in season 5, Georgie got mad at his family. His anger is justified considering the fact that his girlfriend hasn’t even shared the news yet with her parents. Despite Young Sheldon not showing Missy blabbing, she was the only one who reached out to her brother to genuinely apologize. The pair's interaction is arguably the most heartwarming moment in the outing as it's the first time Georgie actually talked to someone who doesn't judge or chastise him for what's going on. Instead, Missy was patient; while she didn't explicitly express it, her concern about her brother made him feel supported. This latest interaction between George and Missy highlights the pair's strong bond. Given this, it doesn't make sense that Georgie would disdainfully describe Missy as a "dumb teenager" when talking about her on The Big Bang Theory.

While Missy appeared on The Big Bang Theory early on, it wasn't until Amy (Mayim Bialik) and Sheldon's (Jim Parsons) wedding in season 11 that Georgie showed up. Apparently, the brothers had a falling out after Sheldon failed to recognize all the sacrifices his brother did for the family after their father died. In The Big Bang Theory, Georgie was a successful businessman who revealed that after George (Lance Barber) passed, he took care of Mary (Zoe Perry), who was paralyzed by grief, and  Missy, who wasn't much help either. But considering their relationship in Young Sheldon, it's difficult to imagine that Georgie and Missy wouldn't be helping each other as they moved on from George's death. In the prequel, the pair has bonded multiple times as they often feel sidelined because all of the attention has been directed toward Sheldon. Even if Young Sheldon’s Missy struggled after George died, chances are that Georgie wouldn't have judged her harshly the way he described her in The Big Bang Theory.

Hopefully, as Young Sheldon continues through two more seasons, it can put more focus on developing Georgie and Missy's relationship. It's arguably the most underutilized pairing in The Big Bang Theory prequel; the siblings barely have any one-on-one interaction, but when they do, it's always great. Considering the show's transition to becoming a family comedy/drama, it may be something that serves their storytelling better moving forward.
