Nine episodes of Young Justice season 4, Phantoms, are finished, with several more in production. The animated DC series is as it sounds and focuses on a group of teenage superheroes. The main team is composed of familiar characters like Robin, Kid Flash, and Superboy, with many others appearing throughout the show's run thus far. Season 1 premiered in 2010, while season 2, subtitled Invasion, followed shortly after in 2012. The first two seasons of Young Justice aired on Cartoon Network. Following a six year break, the show returned for season 3, Outsiders, on the DC Universe streaming service.

Young Justice was renewed for season 4 back in July 2019. It wasn't until over a year later the upcoming season received the subtitle Phantoms. Then in September 2020, came the announcement Young Justice would be switching platforms again, this time trading DC Universe for HBO Max. This move didn't come as much of a surprise, as DC Universe has been rebranded as a comics-only subscription service. Fellow DC series like Harley Quinn have also made the move over to HBO Max. Since the announcement about the change, there has been little information about Young Justice season 4. However, that changed recently.

Greg Weisman, who developed Young Justice alongside Brandon Vietti, provided the update on Phantoms. When asked for news about the upcoming season, Weisman revealed nine episodes are already complete, while several others are in various stages of production. Check out Wesiman's tweet below:

This information from Weisman is good to hear for those who have been looking forward to the new season of Young Justice. Though viewers are no stranger to long breaks between seasons for this particular show, the lack of news about season 4 had some worried. The season 3 finale released in August 2019, so audiences have been waiting awhile for new episodes. Though Young Justice still doesn't have a return date, Weisman's update could mean one is on the way.

It's hard to pinpoint when exactly the show will return, though sometime in 2021 certainly seems feasible based on how many episodes are already complete. Young Justice has released at all different times of the year throughout its run, so there's no reason for HBO Max to wait for one particular month over another. What's more, Young Justice's varying platforms prove viewers are willing to follow the show whenever season 4 does release. Hopefully, more information about Young Justice's upcoming season is revealed sooner rather than later.
