The latest episode of Young Justice: Outsiders, "Elder Wisdom," introduced one of the few members of the classic comic book Outsiders team to not appear on the show before now. Going by the codename "Looker," Lia Briggs has one of the strangest backgrounds of any character in comic book history.

First appearing in Batman and The Outsiders #25  in 1985, Lia Briggs was originally a mousy accountant who was abducted by the citizens of a lost underground city called Abyssia. Discovering that she was a lost descendant of Abyssia's royal family, Lia was exposed to a fragment of Haley's Comet, which awakened her metagene and transformed her body, giving her the beauty of a professional model along with considerable psychic powers. Her powers would later protect her when she was bitten by a vampire and Lia gained all of the powers of the undead but none of the drawbacks, save that she could only draw nutrition from drinking blood.

Lia is introduced into the world of Young Justice: Outsiders as one of several assassins who disrupt a United Nations conference in the nation of Bwunda. Lia is part of the team sent to neutralize Troia, the ambassador to the Amazon nation of Themyscira. While her telepathic powers are strong enough to momentarily disable a warrior with Troia's mental fortitude, they are no match for Ms. Martian, who arrives on the scene along with Terra and Halo to thwart the assassins.

Lia is later discovered to have been under the influence of some sort of implant on the back of her head. Once Ms. Martian destroys it, Lia regains control of herself and explains that she was not truly part of a terrorist group. While the Outsiders have no proof, it looks like Lia is only the latest in a number of metahuman teens who were abducted and brainwashed by Lex Luthor's supervillain union, The Light, and that she had unwittingly been part of Luthor's scheme to make the Outsiders look bad.

Ms. Martian asks Lia if she'd be willing to let The Outsiders help her. Lia agrees, and is seen near the end of the episode among the many people who posted videos online to voice their support of the teen superhero team, declaring "We are all Outsiders." Lia is only seen briefly, but she appears to be wearing a purple outfit similar to her costume from the comics.

It remains to be seen just what sort of role Lia Briggs will have in Young Justice: Outsiders. It is also uncertain if she will adopt her Looker codename from the comics or become an active member of either The Team or The Outsiders. With Ms. Martian running The Team, there is certainly room for a telepath on The Outsiders, and with the end of season 3 fast approaching the Outsiders could use all the help they can get.
