Aqualad voice actor Khary Payton has confirmed that he's set to work on voice recording for the upcoming Young Justice season 3. Debuting back in 2010 on Cartoon Network, Young Justice is a loose adaptation of the comic of the same name and a follow-up to the popular Teen Titans animated series. Over the course of two seasons, Young Justice introduced DC's most best-known teen heroes and sidekicks, all while weaving an interconnected story full of double-crosses, dark plots, and covert missions.

Surprisingly mature and dark for a superhero cartoon, Young Justice garnered its fair share of acclaim and a solid fan following, before it was cancelled. Since that time, there have been hints and hopes that the show would be revived, prior to Young Justice season 3 getting an official green light last year. While there may yet be several new characters debuting in Young Justice season 3, there will be familiar faces and voices from the show's original run returning to the fold too. We have learned that Khary Payton, the voice of Aqualad, is one such cast member who is coming back.

As for when we can expect Young Justice season 3 to premiere, it looks like that's right around the corner. Payton took to Twitter (see his tweet below) to announce that production has begun for the third season of Young Justice, meaning a premiere date could be announced fairly soon.

Given his role as Ezekiel on The Walking Dead, there's a good chance production was waiting for Payton to wrap that series before he started working on Young Justice again. With recording underway, expect more season 3 casting announcements to follow soon. So far, there's been no word on when to expect the series - but with production underway, that should change in the foreseeable future.

In the meantime, fans are eager to know who else will be returning in Young Justice season 3, both in terms of actors and characters. It hasn't been too long since the show went off air, so securing all the key players shouldn't be that difficult. As for the roster; we're likely to see all of the main characters return, along with the addition of several new faces. Young Justice pulled a similar move between seasons 1 and 2, so that it would follow the model of Justice League Unlimited before it.
