Netflix's You has officially started filming season 4, with a set photo confirming it. Very few details have been confirmed about the hit series' next batch of episodes, save for the assumption that Penn Badgley will reprise his role as serial killer Joe Goldberg. You's third season was released last October to critical acclaim and high viewer numbers, becoming the number one program on the streamer for several weeks.

Based on a series of novels by Caroline Kepnes, You follows Badgley's Joe Goldberg, a violent psychopath who becomes obsessed with his victims and goes to extreme lengths to be with them, whether it involves stalking, kidnapping, or murder. The new season will likely follow Joe to Paris as he follows Marienne (Tati Gabrielle), who was introduced in You season 3 as a new love interest for Joe after his marriage to Love (Victoria Pedretti) began to fracture. Though the first two seasons shared similarities with the novels, the third season abandoned any book storylines altogether and will continue in the fourth season to go in its own direction.

Now, You's official Twitter account has posted a set photo showing a slate board with the date March 22 on it, confirming the commencement of production on season 4. The slate also shows that the episode is being directed by John Scott, who has previously directed episodes for the series. Check it out below:

Not much else is known about You season 4, except for the casting of Lukas Gage of The White Lotus fame as Adam, the son of a wealthy businessman. It's also been speculated that Pedretti will reprise her role in the new season, whether as a hallucination or a flashback. With the show's relatively light post-production needs, it's likely the fourth season will premiere later this year, perhaps in October, like season 3 did.

You season 3 was easily its best, shaking off the restrictions of its source material and allowing itself to go in an all-new direction, leading to new surprises and twists along the way. As well-written and fascinating as the books are, adapted materials are at their best when they use the opportunity to push the subject matter in new and interesting ways, as You's third season did. Whatever Joe gets up to in You season 4, it's sure to continue the twisty, bloody melodrama that has made the show such a hit.
