A viral TikTok video shows a blink-and-you'll-miss-it filming mistake on Netflix's YOU season 3. Based on Caroline Kepnes' book series, YOU is a psychological thriller that tells a dark story of obsession, violence, murder, and toxic romance. The series premiered on Lifetime in 2018 before moving exclusively to Netflix in 2019 for its second and third seasons. Penn Badgley stars as Joe Goldberg, a charming bookstore manager from New York who hides a secret life as a serial killer.

In season 1, Joe falls in love with an aspiring writer named Beck who he later kills after she discovers his murderous ways. Season 2 sees Joe moving to Los Angeles where he meets Love Quinn (Victoria Pedretti), an attractive heiress and avid chef. He soon discovers that Love isn't the typical girl next door as she reveals that she's just as bloodthirsty. YOU season 3, which premiered on Oct. 15, picks up with Joe and Love moving to the idyllic Californian suburb of Madre Linda. Now married with a newborn son, the couple falls back into their compulsive patterns as they try to be the perfect family.

While YOU is known for its heart-pounding scenes, a new TikTok video exposes a hilarious filming mistake that viewers may have missed while watching the show's intense moments. The now-viral clip was spotted by TikTok user @annabelleryan. It shows a scene from the final episode when Love texts Marienne (Tati Gabrielle) using Joe's phone. Their messages are displayed on the screen and next to Joe's chat bubble is his profile pic just like in a standard SMS exchange. Only, a closer look reveals that it's not Badgley's face but some random guy who bears an uncanny resemblance to the actor.

YOU SEASON 3 FILMING MISTAKE

At first glance, the slip-up isn't really noticeable because the scene plays by quickly and Joe's profile pic is flashed as a tiny thumbnail. Once viewers spot it, however, it's truly hard to unsee. A second look into YOU's past episodes also confirms the flub as Joe's profile pic in other chat bubbles is definitely Badgley's. As the eagle-eyed fan asked, who is this other guy and how could the show's editors have missed this tiny detail?

While the funny filming mistake doesn't affect YOU's storyline, it does offer a comic breather from season 3's horrific events. The series' latest installment is its wildest one yet with both Joe and Love teaming up to pile on the kill count. Clearly, the show's twisted but addictive plot has gotten viewers hooked as Netflix has already renewed YOU for a fourth season. As Joe's demented tale of finding his one true love continues, fans can expect the series to get more riveting.
