The official trailer for Yellowstone season 5 has broken a viewership record for the series. The series, which was created by Hell or High Water's Taylor Sheridan and follows the patriarch of a Montana ranch family defending his land from outside interests, originally premiered on The Paramount Network in 2018. The series stars Kevin Costner, Luke Grimes, Kelly Reilly, Wes Bentley, Cole Hauser, Kelsey Asbille, Brecken Merrill, Jefferson White. The show has amassed strong ratings throughout its history, rising from an average of about 2.1 million U.S. viewers per episode in season 1 to around 7.75 million per episode in season 4. The series is so popular that there are two more planned spin-offs that will join the Sam Elliott prequel series 1883, which aired in late 2021.

Yellowstone season 5 is coming soon, with a planned airdate of November 13. The new season will follow what results from Costner's character John Dutton winning the Montana gubernatorial race after taking the opportunity away from his son Jamie (Bentley). In addition to the family resentment that he is fomenting, Dutton's enemies are now circling the governor and his beloved ranch with more fervor than ever.

Per Deadline, Paramount is reporting that the trailer for Yellowstone season 5, which dropped six days ago, racked up 14.4 million views and 1.7 million engagements in the first full day after its release. When compared to the numbers for season 4's trailer premiere, that's triple the former and six times the latter. During that same time frame, the Yellowstone season 5 trailer also became the #1 most-watched TV-related video on TikTok in addition to being #2 on Facebook.

How Well Will Yellowstone Season 5 Do in the Ratings?

With these astounding numbers showing what a surge of interest there has been in the series, it's possible that Yellowstone season 5 may amass the show's highest ratings yet. If it continues to climb at the proportion that the show's audience has been growing over time, it could possibly garner ratings somewhere in the 10-11 million range. However, given the huge leap between pre-debut interest in seasons 4 and 5, it could potentially go even higher.

Interest in Yellowstone has proven to grow organically throughout the years since its premiere. However, the popularity of season 5 may also be boosted by general interest in its various spinoffs. Although the second Yellowstone spinoff, 1923, hasn't yet aired, it is garnering a lot of attention thanks to its A-list cast, which includes Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren.
