Kevin Costner has revealed the premiere date for the Paramount+ hit show Yellowstone season 5. Costner stars as John Dutton in the series, the patriarch of a cattle ranch in Montana who finds his family constantly in a struggle to preserve their land from outside interests who will do anything in their power to take it. Along with Costner, the show stars Kelly Reilly, Luke Grimes, Wes Bentley, Gil Birmingham, Kelsey Asbille, and Jefferson White, and has become the flagship show for Paramount+.

Taylor Sheridan is the creator of Yellowstone, which has since spawned a number of spinoffs, including the recently wrapped prequel series 1883 with Sam Elliot, Tim McGraw, and Faith Hill. It was just announced that Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren would star in the next prequel spinoff covering the Dutton family, which is called 1932. In addition to 1932, another spinoff called 6666 was also announced, which takes place at the famed real-life ranch in Texas, known as the breeding ground for the best cowboys. The 6666 ranch was featured in Yellowstone season 4, which had White's Jimmy train there to become a proper cowboy.

Yellowstone season 4 debuted its finale in January, but it appears fans won't have to wait long for Yellowstone season 5, as Costner has announced it will debut on November 13th, 2022, on Paramount+. Costner, Sheridan, and the Yellowstone crew began filming this week on the fifth season, which has all the series regulars returning to continue the Dutton family saga after the significant events and cliffhangers leftover from Yellowstone season 4. Check out Costner's announcement post below:

There are a lot of threads left to pull for the show and Yellowstone season 4 proved that fans are eager to see more, especially after the finale drew in more than 9.3 million viewers on Paramount+ alone. Yellowstone season 5 will be the longest season of the series yet and split into two parts, with the first part presumably debuting in November. Sheridan recently signed on to write and/or produce the Yellowstone spinoffs, as well as a number of new and returning programming for Paramount+, including Sylvester Stallone's Tulsa King, Bass Reeves with David Oyelowo, Lioness with Zoe Saldana, and Land Man with Billy Bob Thornton.

Yellowstone has become a ratings phenomenon and helped put Paramount+ on the map, so it makes sense that the streamer would push to have the next season drop as soon as possible. Thankfully, Sheridan has said that he has always known how Yellowstone will end and doesn't want to overstay his welcome, which means that viewers can rest easy knowing that the ship isn't sailing aimlessly and that Yellowstone hopefully won't jump the shark before it concludes. Some may argue that the dramatics of the series have already done that, but it's ultimately part of the charm of the series, reveling in violent melodrama, which is on brand for Sheridan. Very likely, Yellowstone season 5's fall debut will help keep the momentum of this ratings behemoth and fan favorite series.
