Yellowstone's Kelly Reilly says that her character, Beth Dutton, could never forgive her brother, Wes Bentley's Jamie Dutton. Beth is a force of nature in Taylor Sheridan's Yellowstone, a deeply wounded character who is smart, relentless, and unforgiving of anything that gets in her way, including family. Reilly has played Beth, the daughter of Yellowstone patriarch John Dutton (Kevin Costner) since season 1, becoming a fan-favorite character who has built a reputation as someone not to be trifled with.

Beth and Jamie's troubled history in Yellowstone goes back to their childhood, as seen in flashbacks throughout the show. While Beth continues to carry the burden of her mother's accidental death, she also carries a bitter grudge against Jamie that only gets worse as time goes on. After taking her to an abortion clinic that left her sterile, Beth blames Jamie for not being able to have children, which is compounded by Jamie's actions as an adult when he becomes a double-crossing lawyer (and later Attorney General). Beth suspects he is responsible for an attempt on their father's life, to whom Beth's dedication has been a staple of her resolve throughout Yellowstone. At the close of Yellowstone season 4, Beth sets up — and later blackmails — Jamie to kill his biological father (Will Patton) when it's revealed that he was actually responsible for the assassination attempt.

Talking to Vulture, Reilly says she doesn't believe that it's in Beth's character to ever forgive Jamie. This is especially true given her belief that he conspired to have their own father killed. As Beth does anything in her power to support the Yellowstone ranch's survival so long as John Dutton lives, Reilly believes Jamie's role in potentially challenging this is not something Beth takes lightly, saying:

"In her mind, Jamie tried to kill her father. If you think about what that would do to someone like Beth, there is no end point. I don’t think she ever goes, 'I’m going to wrap this up and forgive him.' I don’t think that’s in Beth."

Jamie has been every bit as complex a character as Beth in Yellowstone, and their heated relationship is a key draw to the series. While it took a few seasons to finally uncover why Beth detested him so much, Jamie has only made things worse as an adult; especially since his role as Attorney General and the shocking news of his adoption, sending him into a tailspin of bad decisions. With a new dynamic set up at the end of Yellowstone season 4, as Beth now has evidence Jamie murdered his adopted father, things are likely only going to get uglier between the two warring siblings. This is especially true considering Reilly's comments, seemingly ruling out a trace between them.

The melodrama of the Dutton family is one of the things that make Yellowstone so enthralling, with Beth and Jamie's dynamic a core driver of this. Things escalated to a boiling point by the end of Yellowstone season 4, setting up an all-new dynamic for Yellowstone season 5, which is currently filming. Said to be the longest season yet (broken into two parts), season 5 will no doubt continue to explore Beth's unshakeable loyalty to her father, while Jamie continues to back himself into a corner. This could make for some intense exchanges that could very easily get worse for both characters when Yellowstone season 5 debuts on Paramount+ on November 13th.
