Everything is not as it seems in the Yellowjackets wilderness, but some wild theories explain the unexplained mysteries. Viewers are trying to figure out how Travis' brother Javi survived in the snow for three months before returning to the group. They're also not sure who the friend he saw was. Luckily Yellowjackets season 2 has cleared up a lot of mysteries from the first season. Travis' cause of death was a big question among fans, but Lottie explained to Nat that their friend accidentally killed himself, and she couldn't help him because she got trapped in a vision from the past.

Yellowjackets also recently cleared up what Travis' letter that said "Tell Nat she was right" means. Nat had told Travis she believes there was a darkness in the wilderness, and when they were finally reduced, they took it back to their daily lives with them. When Travis accidentally killed himself, it was because he was trying to exercise the darkness out of himself after realizing Nat's theory was correct. While Yellowjackets has offered some answers to its mysteries, there are still plenty left, most of them revolving around the wilderness where the survivors are staying.

5 There's A Cave Under The Cabin In Yellowjackets

The cabin in the forest in Yellowjackets.

There have been a lot of strange occurrences in the Yellowjackets cabin that has led fans to believe there is a cave underneath the cabin where the survivors are staying. TheDaleian suggested this theory on Reddit. One hint is that Mari began hearing a dripping noise, and she couldn't figure out where it was coming from. While it seemed like she may have been hallucinating since no other characters heard it, fans think the dripping is coming from a cave under the cabin and that Mari calling it out was supposed to alert fans that something was off.

Fans believe if this is true, Javi may have been staying in the cave for months, which is how he managed to survive. There is also a tree trunk in the wilderness that doesn't have any snow on it despite the rest of the forest being covered in winter snow. This suggests there could be something beneath it, preventing it from freezing.

4 Something Supernatural Is Happening In The Wilderness

Yellowjackets heavily focuses on the trauma its characters have from the 19 months they were stranded in the wilderness. A lot of the occurrences seem linked to the characters losing their minds from being excluded from society for so long. However, there's also a possibility that the wilderness occurrences are linked to something supernatural.

From Taissa's alter ego to the Antler Queen, there is a lot of evidence that spirits or another kind of supernatural force may be taking over the survivors' minds. One scene that was especially eerie was when the survivors were eating Jackie, but it was portrayed as a Greek feast, suggesting something out of the ordinary is definitely occurring in the wilderness.

3 The Yellowjackets Symbol Is A Map To A Mine

Yellowjackets Symbol in a tree Meaning

A prominent part of Yellowjackets is the unusual symbol engraved on the trees, which follows the survivors into the present day. No one has figured out what the symbol means, and it might be one of the last mysteries solved. However, Reddit user creamsodas suggested the symbol could be a map to a mining system. The system could be connected to the potential cave under the cabin. Fans also think the map was created by the man who lived in the cabin before the current group of survivors, and he may have created the symbol to help himself get around the mines and remember where everything is.

2 Methane Emissions Are Causing The Yellowjackets Characters To Hallucinate

Hallucinations have become regular on Yellowjackets, and it's unclear what's causing them. After Jackie's death, Shauna continued to talk to her best friend's corpse, believing her to be alive and responding. Meanwhile, Ben continues to imagine he's back at home with his boyfriend, having regular conversations and disagreements with him. The hallucinations could be due to the fact the group has been stranded in the wilderness for months and is losing their sanity. Ben is especially sensitive as he lost his leg in the crash.

However, fans also think Methane emissions could be causing the hallucinations. AlarmHefty5680 suggested this, saying the collapsing birds are evidence. This connects back to Javi's disappearance because the character returned to the cabin disoriented. He couldn't remember anything and didn't even remember his own brother. If he was hiding out in a cave beneath the cabin, flooded with emissions, it would definitely affect his memory.

This would also explain why Ben has been having more hallucinations lately than anyone else. Because of his leg, Ben doesn't go out into the cold to help out like the others, but he stays inside the cabin. If there are methane emissions coming from beneath the cabin, he would be the most affected since he spends the most time inside.

1 The Cabin Man Possessed Lottie On Yellowjackets

Yellowjackets' Antler Queen Explained

A major question among Yellowjackets fans is who is behind the antler queen? Fans are leaning toward Lottie being Antler Queen for several reasons. In one scene, Lottie is standing in front of a wall with antlers on it, and the way the shot is framed makes it look like she is wearing them. In another scene, Lottie actually wears an antler headdress. Another clue is the Antler Queen are strands of dark hair attached to it, and the color matches Lottie. However, this isn't the crazy theory about Lottie and the Antler Queen.

Vulture suggested that the reason Lottie became antler queen is that she is possessed by the original cabin inhibitor. Fans are very fascinated by the cabin man and believe there is much more to his story than what has been revealed so far. Things did get very strange the first night the survivors spent in the cabin, so his spirit might still be lurking throughout the wooden home.

Something is definitely off with Lottie too, which is especially obvious because of how hard she was affected by the events of the wilderness after they were rescued. Yellowjackets still has a lot of questions to answer, but until then, fans will continue making outrageous theories about a show that is so wild that the theories might actually be accurate.
