The creator of Yellowjackets has a five-season plan, which was recently confirmed by one of the series' stars. Premiering on Showtime on November 14, 2021, Yellowjackets focuses on a female soccer team from New Jersey whose plane crashes in the woods, forcing them to survive out in the wilderness. The series also shows how the experience impacted them, as it flashes forward to the modern day. Yellowjackets has been a critical hit, and audiences' viewership and engagement has grown with each week as the mystery of the show unfolds.

Showtime renewed Yellowjackets for season 2 in December 2021, a few days before the sixth episode premiered. With one episode left of the season, which will air on January 16, many questions still remain that most likely will not be resolved in just one episode. While it was unclear when the series first premiered, one of the series' stars confirms the story is planned to be told over multiple seasons.

Jasmin Savoy Brown, who plays the younger version of the character Taissa Turner, said that the series creators have a five-season plan. In an interview with Comicbook.com, while promoting the new Scream film, which Brown also stars in, she confirmed that the writers had five seasons written out in their heads. The star reveals that she doesn't have a lot of the answers to the mystery that fans have, and at this point, only knows what happens up to the end of season 1. Brown's full quote can be read below:

"Here's the truth: I don't know the answer to a lot of the questions. I only know as far as the end of Season 1 and they have five seasons already written out in their head."

A five-season plan for Yellowjackets is likely encouraging to many fans who will feel comfortable with the idea that the series creators have a roadmap laid out. Hypothetically, if the series films and airs a new season every year, Yellowjackets could run until 2026 or 2027. With the rising star power of the young cast, including Sophie Thatcher, who recently appeared on The Book of Boba Fett, as well as the established adult actors like Juliette Lewis, Christina Ricci, Melanie Lynskey, and Tawny Cypress, the schedule could be a bi-yearly series.

So far, only four of the characters from the plane crash have been viewed in present-day, and the Yellowjackets season finale trailer has teased that some faces may show up in the high school reunion, giving more stories to explore. While the series establishes the characters were stranded for 19 months, the flashbacks could explore what happens to the girls when they first return to civilization. While only one episode remains of Yellowjackets season 1, there are still plenty of exciting story possibilities and mysteries to be solved for years to come.
