Christina Ricci updates fans on Yellowjackets season2, describing it as even crazier than the first. The show follows the lives of a high school soccer team across two timelines, one focusing on the group's survival efforts in the wilderness following a plane crash, the other centering on the lives of several survivors as adults. Across the explosive season 1, both timelines descend into chaos, with the younger Yellowjackets resorting to tribalism and cannibalism to survive, while their adult counterparts find themselves threatened by a mysterious cult-like group.

And now, Yellowjackets star Ricci has decided to give fans an exciting update on the show's upcoming return. When asked about Yellowjackets' season 2 during an interview with Watch What Happens Live, Ricci recalls her reaction to reading the scripts for the first two episodes, describing season 2 as "crazier" than the show's first outing, and expressing her excitement around working with Elijah Wood again. Check out what Ricci said below:

"I can't say too much about season two except for that it's even crazier than season one. I was gasping reading the first two episode scripts, and working with Elijah has been amazing, we're having so much fun and yeah, it's been great."

What's In Store For The Remaining Yellowjackets in Season 2?

The soccer team stands by a fire in Yellowjackets

The ending of Yellowjackets season 1 left both eras of the soccer team in chaos, but it appears the worst is yet to come. Jackie's death serves as the catalyst that will plummet the 1996 plane crash timeline into complete disarray, with the camp heading toward the cannibalistic tendencies teased in the show's opening minutes, thanks to the encouragement of Lottie. The surviving adults don't fare much better in the modern timeline, either, with season 1's ending confirming that Lottie is, once again, the root cause of their misery. While only teased in the show's debut outing, Simone Kessell was recently confirmed to star as the adult version of Yellowjackets' very own Antler Queen, Lottie, which can only spell trouble for the remaining survivors in the show's upcoming return.

Although it's difficult to imagine just how the next season of Yellowjackets could possibly be any crazier, Ricci's comments are certainly exciting for fans to hear. With more adult survivors teased for the show's modern timeline, and the likes of Wood, Kessell and more joining the show's ensemble cast, it seems the show is on the right track to being as thrilling as ever. Yellowjackets' success is an impressive feat, with season 1 receiving an incredible seven Emmy nominations while also becoming Showtime's second most-streamed show ever. It seems only fitting for the show to continue weaving its tale in the only way that Yellowjackets knows how, with an even more surprising season 2.

But despite its success, and boasting a satisfying ending to its initial run, Yellowjackets still has aces up its sleeve. The show has plenty of mysteries left to unwrap, with perhaps the most burning questions for fans being who else has survived the 19 months out in the wild, and who was the first victim of the Yellowjackets' descent into cannibalism. If season 2 is as crazy as Ricci says, it seems fans may not have long to wait to finally have the answer to some of their most burning Yellowjackets questions.
