Yellowjackets season 2 images show the remaining survivors enduring a brutal cannibal winter. First airing on Showtime in 2021, the hit mystery/ thriller show is set to return for season 2 later this month, with season 3 already in the works. Yellowjackets takes place in two timelines, chronicling a group of teenage girls who attempt to survive in the Canadian wilderness after a plane crash in the 1990s, and those same survivors in the present, dealing with the intense trauma that they have endured, including dealings with cannibalism.
In a new EW cover story ahead of the Yellowjackets season 2 premiere, new images from the upcoming season have been released, teasing that survival is about to get a whole lot tougher when winter descends upon the wilderness.
The images, as featured above, provide fresh looks at a variety of characters, including young versions of Natalie (Sophie Thatcher), Travis (Kevin Alves), Van (Liv Hewson), Taissa (Jasmin Savoy Brown), Shauna (Sophie Nélisse), and Lottie (Courtney Eaton). Adult versions of some of the characters are also featured in images, including Simone Kessell as Lottie, Melanie Lynskey as Shauna, and Christina Ricci as Misty.
What To Expect From Yellowjackets Season 2
From Yellowjackets' opening moments, it's clear that the core group of survivors goes to great lengths to stay alive, eventually devolving into a cannibalistic cult. It's not clear, however, who they are eating in the show's opening moments or how the group turned to such drastic measures. With winter descending upon the group in Yellowjackets season 2, it's possible that audiences will learn more about the group's turn to cannibalism and potentially even who the survivors are eating.
Yellowjackets season 1 didn't feature adult Lottie, leading to some speculation that the character would die during the 1990s timeline. It was announced last year, however, that Kessell would be joining the cast as adult Lottie, meaning the character is now poised to play a significant role in the present timeline. The Yellowjackets season 1 finale also ends on a big cliffhanger involving adult Taissa, with the reveal that she has a disturbing shrine in her basement upon which she has placed her dog's severed head.
In addition to catching up with Taissa and further exploring just how damaged she remains as a result of her traumatizing survival experience, Yellowjackets season 2 will also seemingly feature a lot more Misty. Ricci's adult Misty was revealed to be quite unhinged last season, killing Jessica (Rekha Sharma) with a fentanyl-laced cigarette, and season 2 is set to give her a new muse in the form of Elijah Wood's Walter, a citizen detective. While many mysteries remain regarding Yellowjackets season 2, the show is clearly only going to get more wild as its story continues to unfold.
